As a current student at Belleville high school, I am in my senior year. I have been here for three years now. I would not recommend this school to anybody. I would not even send my future kids to the school. This school is absolutely all out of the place it has no sort of control whatsoever for example, I have Spanish and the teacher in my classroom does not speak Spanish. We do not have a teacher in that classroom who is actively teaching us Spanish but then they expect us to learn it on our own and they tell us look it up on Google as if I can sit there and use Google on my test and I’m a type of student who I need someone to actively teach me. I cannot actively teach myself, especially when it comes to certain subjects. I have different learning styles when it comes to different subjects, and they do not cater to those things. When I try to communicate with administration they act as if I’m speaking Spanish, and I know I’m not speaking Spanish, because if I was, I would not be failing that class right now. They fail to properly communicate with anyone in general. They are so backwards when it comes to everything they pick out the littlest of things. But the football players get caught vaping in the bathroom, get detentions, etc but somehow they get out of every single little thing but let me be in the bathroom vaping or let me sit there and not come to a detention. I’m gonna get suspended and everything but I bet you if I was a football player on the team that would never happen to me. The security guards at the school is absolutely messy like for example if I sit there and I tell the security guard about somebody, they will sit there and go and tell that person exactly what I said and that I said it. This is exactly why I do not go to administration or anybody in the school about anything that I have a problem with because they fail to protect me in the situations. I do not feel safe when i’m at this school. They are not considerate of the fact that people have lives outside of school. I have stuff to do after school such as drivers training, work, watch my siblings, sports and stuff like that, I don’t have the time to go to every single one of these detentions that they give for the smallest of things. Do not send this your child to this school unless you were trying to set them up for failure.

With a graduate, and a current student, I can attest that this school is definitely underscored. My students have had no issues while attending and only support from staff members. The new principal is a gem! She has shown great leadership, and implemented effective changes.. not sure why this score is low but not reflective of us parents for the most part. And my graduate was well prepared for college courses!

The district, although tax funded, will not hire diverse principals or a diverse central office team; however, over 50% of students are minority. The district score reports show less than 30% if students are proficient on PSAT/SAT. Van Buren needs to clean house and get leaders in position who know what works.

I love the school and know in the past that they tried new ideas but we need more follow through. The band program is amazing and going to camp to learn to work together. I think the activities really help them bond. I hope in the future that they find a way to get the big sisters and big brothers more involved with the Freshman. I love Belleville and will always support the band program.

I spent my freshman year at BHS and I loved it! Belleville has a great student body full of school spirit, and the teachers are supportive and determined to help you succeed. The school itself is beautiful and there are plenty of affordable sports and activities for the students. Their band program is exceptional and so is their drama program. They really encourage students to be as authetic and creative as possible. BHS isn't just a school, it's a community and a great place for your child to get a positive high school experience.

Administrators are horrible! They don't handle issues that come about and the new principal and assistant principal are terrible leaders Mrs buhro and Mr Roberson aren't fit to deal with high school issues and need to be retrained. I had to send several emails and contact the superintendent to get a response regarding my child. With a score of only 4 you would think they did better jobs at getting these kids on board. I took my daughter out and placed her ina. 9 scoring school and after meeting administrators I can say that score goes hand in hand with all parts involved

I honestly find it hilarious how much ignorance I've witnessed on this page. Belleville is the best school ever! We have fabulous teachers and great extra curricular courses to get involved in such as Science Olympia, Marching Band, Chess club etc. I honestly think all the parents on this page that are complaining are blind and I guess haven't thought, "hmm maybe it's not the school, maybe it's just my kid". I mean seriously teachers offer after school help all the time and there are study groups to get involved in. Send your kid to school here! I would completely reccomend it.

Van Buren Public schools is the worst district that we have ever experienced. The teachers and counselors are not willing to help your child. Even the assistant principal and principal are unwilling to help. You can forget about the so called superintendent as well. Beware!

My oldest son just graduated from BHS. We have had a wonderful experience at this school. He graduated with honors and has had some truly exceptional teachers in his four years there. There are so many extra curricular activities at this school, that every student should be able to find something that interests them, and the teachers and staff devote a lot of their time before and after school to make sure that these programs continue to grow every year. Thank you teachers, staff, and administration!!!

The school is a nightmare. The teachers are generally awful, with some notable exceptions. So much of the time, my child is watching irrelevant movies and such. The counselors are a joke and the kids are treated like they are in reform school. I HATE this school and cannot wait until my child gets out!

My 11th grade son has had a great experience at BHS. His teachers have been supportive and encouraging. I would definitely recommend it to other parents. The new building is wonderful, the athletic facilities are phenomenal and the staff are accessible.

I am going to Wayne memorial this year, I am a junior and I will be back into Belleville next year, 12th grade. I love Belleville high, I mean yeah there are things that go wrong and some things I do not like, but I would recommend you go to this school. It's great. The staff is great and are so supportive. See you next year, Belleville!

This school sucks! I recommend you think twice about sending any of your kids here, they've changed a lot especially since the school was rebuilt, they've made more rules, enhanced the security, and treat the kids like criminals... I hate this school to be honest, the teachers don't teach and I find it to be a very bad learning environment, we barely have assembly's or fun things to do which seems like not very high schoolish, one thing I did enjoy though was the clean, new stuff which made the school more spiffy but no please do not enroll your children here.

I am a parent of a 2012 graduate. I think Belleville High School is a wonderful school with very caring staff members. I really love Mr. Niner and how he challenges his students. I will be sending my youngest child to the NEW Belleville High School. GO BELLEVILLE!
