My daughter is in 1st grade at Signal Hill. She loves the teachers and the atmosphere at the school. It’s very diverse, which is great for us. The teachers work very hard during and outside of school hours to make sure the kids have enriching activities throughout the school year. There is always something extra happening for the kids. We love it!

Not learning anything. The only class I like is My Algebra 1 class. I'm learning in this class compared to others. The electives are useless. We need a hygiene talk. Also, the bathroom needs to be cleaned more often.

My daughter attends pre-K here and absolutely loves it!! She gets disappointed when school is out.

This is a good school in a good community. I like having a local and diverse school for my child. He could be challenged more academically, but research indicates that having experience in diverse settings make better college students than academics anyway. He likes the school, gets along well with the other students, and they worked hard during COVID to help all students. Some issues with the administration, but the teachers go out of their way to help the students and ensure they are progressing and are challenged.

This school is awesome! My children have been attending since prek, and they're 6, and 4th grade. Great system and they work really well, with helping your child.

I am so impressed! I spent many hours doing research and comparing schools to make sure I was sending my kids to the right place. I definitely made the right decision. The teachers are absolutely amazing! The curriculum is outstanding...my kids are taking Spanish starting in kindergarten! Great, extra-curricular activities, gifted classes, learning toward both advanced and students that need to catch up, passionate parents and PTO...just awesome.

This is a public school ran like a private one. The Superintendent is constantly seeking new grant money in order to enhance the educational experience for the children. The school is the only one in the area with a Spanish program. It is the jewel in the west end of Belleville Illinois.

This school is small and I think that's a good thing. The kids get more focused attention from the teachers and they also can be active in all of the activities that a bigger school would offer. Because it is small there is more opportunity for kids to actually be involved in way more activities than they would elsewhere. There is a good core of involved parents who take a very active role in the school. If there is any negative, the principal needs to be more active in her involvement with the kids and really see what is going on with them.

Signal Hill is great! The school added a Spanish program this year and continues to have all the academic and sports activities - something for every student! Amazing teachers that truly care for their students. There are many ways for parents to be involved in the school - both during the day and at night. So glad we moved here !!

Having lived here for three generations, moved away from the area out of state and having returned to raise my own children I can honestly say that you won't find a more dedicated, caring staff and parents who will teach, love and care for your children. While some parents on here whine about meetings being during the day while they work etc...the school does what it can to meet the needs of the parents. Parents who have concerns are always welcome to become involved with school and activities in fact...I don't recall ever finding a more involved group of parents in the community. Parents need to remember that school is here to teach and help build positive character..but the final model is the parent. Todays children face many hurdles and obstacles and sometimes this includes their own parents...so teachers do the very best they can...lots of great people who don't expect a pat on the back for doing what they love,,,,and that is teaching. Would pick this school over and expensive private school any day of the week!

We moved here from Arkansas in January and, despite joining a new class half way through the year, my daughter was made to feel right at home the very first day. The school may daughter attended in Arkansas was rated a 10, so we were nervous about a new school that was not as highly rated. Our fears were put to rest the first week as my daughter came home each day excited about her class and her teacher. Her teacher has done an excellent job pushing her to excel in math and reading, both of which my daughter enjoys. Her class is small; in fact the entire school is small. One of the greatest strengths is the expectation of parental involvement. I have always felt that the quality of a school can be measured by the level of parental involvement. If you want to treat school like daycare and simply drop your kids off, this is not the school for you. My wife and I don't regret for a second not sending our daughter to private school and we look forward to our son starting school next year as well.

If you really love and care about your children, send them somewhere else. This place is a joke.

Our family has been in Signal Hill School for 3 generations. The school has always maintained the highest standards for excellence, the administrators work tirelessly to create a welcoming environment with top quality in all areas, and the teachers are committed to high standards of teaching, to the students, and to the community. As many other schools face challenges with unstable state income and trying to serve a broad spectrum of educational needs and skills, Signal Hill rises to the occasion and does the best it can with the majority of the community and parents supporting it's efforts.

This school is showing progress but has a long way to go. The earlier reviews say it all. Too many parent meetings and programs durng the day - kids who's parents work are treated like 2nd class citizens. My kids were devastated when they were segragated from the other students because they didn't have a stay at home mom. The daycare buses aren't allowed to park on the school property - heartbreaking. It seems like the District is trying to make inroads. I hope they do - this is a great neighborhood school with tremendous potential.

Way behind the times...the school still lives in the "Leave It To Beaver" era. If you're planning to move to the area, private school is the way to go (either Blessed Sacrament or GFA). Things need to change or Ward, June, and the Beave will be relocating shortly.
