At first, Valley Catholic seemed so amazing. However, this year, I have become more familiar with this school and it really isn't. They are way too strict. You cannot drink in class, you will not be able to wear skirts next year, the passing period is 4 minutes long (and you get a detention if you get 3 tardies), the longest break is 8 minutes long, you can barely even use the bathroom and I bled through my clothes because I didn't have time to (I didn't want to be late and get a detention), you can't go to the bathroom the first 20 minutes of lunch for some reason, the school is sexist (they always make comments about girl's appearances/clothing but never to boys, who are doing the same thing, for example short/skirt length. The girls got called out for having their skirts "too short" but the boys with the same length of shorts got nothing). They give you 2-4 hours of homework each night and create a very stressful environment and blame our bad mental and physical health on us.Do not send your child to this school.

In my opinion, VC is a great school in academics but pressures its students way too much. I am currently a student there and my experience so far has been ok. Every semester you are required to take exams starting from sixth grade the workload of hw is way too much. If you are a great student academically you spend at least 3 hours doing hw after school. The teachers I've encountered can be nice at some times but very verbally abusive to their students too. Just the other day I was walking with my friend when the vice principal mocked me because of how I talked. I honestly don't know how I sounded but she decided to mock me because of how I talked. I have never experienced such disrespect from a teacher before. They can be very strict about their guidelines. Overall the expectations in that school are way above average and take a lot away from your free time. I do not recommend this school.

This school gives way too much homework and the teachers discriminate me, despite the non-discriminatory rule. The homework is way too hard and puts lots of stress on the students. I have multiple mental disorders that come from homework and bullying. Please don't send your child to this school...

We love this school for our children. It's a small community of wonderful kids and parents who really care about education.

Excellent school. Demanding academics that prepare kids well for college. Friendly community. Highly recommend.

The academics at the middle school was rigorous but lacked substance. There needs to be a change with the middle school principal. She lacks the leadership skills to make the middle school great. We were so disappointed with the middle school that we switched our child to another school.

the middle school was a huge disappointment to us. The academics were rigorous but the community of students and families was lacking. Only a handful of the 8th grade students stay for the high school and there have been many years that the freshman class is not even full. There is a disconnect there.

There's a stringent assessment for Kindergartners. VCS requires your 4 year old to be able to write his own name before entering their kindergarten program. To be accepted you either have to be a Catholic or an "early starter". Ironically you send your child to school to learn knowledge but apparently they only accept those who already went through unnecessary forced early training.

LOVE this school! We have only experienced the middle school, but it has been such a blessing to our family. They expect the students to work hard, so if your child is serious about school and is organized and willing to put their nose to the grindstone, then they will do well. The music program is AMAZING! The middle school band? WOW! The middle school orchestra? Superb! The glee club and choir are a joy to listen to as well. These kids have PE/health, music and Spanish or French every day. You are going to be hard pressed to find another middle school in Beaverton that offers that. Class sizes? My child has less than 15 students in his math class. Most classes have more than that, but all class sizes are definitely reasonable. It has been worth every penny.

I am a current student at Valley and have been going there since Kindergarten. There are great academics and very driven students in the community. However, many of my teachers have been extremely verbally abusive to both me and my peers. I have also been severely bullied by said peers, and no action was taken to stop this, despite the school's no bullying policy. I suffer from a mental disorder now because of the emotional trauma this caused me. There is also a limit on the number of times a student can be absent before they have to ask to pass the semester, which is unfair to students who get sick easily. Students are also put under high amounts of stress. There are excessive amounts of homework put on younger children, and these children are also expected to participate in athletics, have good hygiene, have straight As, and get enough sleep. I feel like this should be improved.

I was a student at Valley Catholic from 6th grade to senior year and I can't even imagine going anywhere else. I thank my parents all the time for sending me there despite money issues, which the school helped with. Valley Catholic has an incredible staff that is more interested in teaching kids to be good people and how to succeed in life than in passing a meaningless test. VC has an amazing math and science program that taught me so much and inspired me to be a science major in college. The athletics are great at VC but the "non-athletes" are just as important to the atmosphere at Valley Catholic as the athletes. I could've been considered a jock, but VC's atmosphere made me want to branch out. I was a football player but I ha friends in drama, in band, in art club, and in computer sciences.VC helped us learn our stuff in academics but also in life. I recommend Valley Catholic completely to anyone with a child looking for a place to grow in all aspects of life. Side note: I even plan to send my future children to VC.

Valley Catholic is a wonderful school. The teachers and administration are so supportive of their students. I was going to send my daughter to Jesuit but her 8th grade teacher said to try Valley instead. The staff is so supportive and you don't even have to be the "best athelete". My term for Valley would be compassionate.

I have a sophmore and a middle schooler and I could not be happier with the education they are receiving. Transferring them there from another, smaller school was the best educational decision my husband and I have made.

I have two children, one in elementary and one in middle school. We transferred here from public school a year ago and my kids were woefully unprepared for the change in academics, especially my middle schooler. My kids are smart but it became very apparent that their education was very lacking coming from the public school. They are smart children and got VERY good grades at their public school, which they didn't have to work very hard for. I very much value the stellar education they are getting now. I also have to mention their arts program, which is top notch.
