I have an eighth grader at HBMS and she is on a 504 plan and when she reaches out for help the teachers do nothing. I’ve reached out to teachers numerous times the last two years and I do not get any response back. Unless your child is right in the middle. I feel the teachers don’t care

I used to recommend this school when my 3 other children were here. It was a Blue Ribbon school, The School to watch, and a 9/10 in ratings. It's now a 5/10 rating. If you have a dyslexic child do not go here. The history teacher gave my dyslexic child crossword puzzles and a ton of packets to fill out and read every single lesson. And the reason for the very low grade, a diary project. She just couldn't do it and cried every night staying up so very late working on it. She would turn it in and he would send it back saying it was wrong and this continued and continued till she just stopped caring. I being a history buff did it for her and guess what it was still wrong!!! Seriously!!! I asked her teacher to just ask her the questions. She can accurately answer any history questions for hours, but there is no way she can write a novel about being a kid during the Texas Revolution. He still continued to do it his way saying in his email that she needed to be challenged.The principals are AMAZING, every one of them, and most of the teachers are incredible. They have a very hard school to deal with and absolutely zero help from LTISD. They have just let it plummet like the elementary not far from the middle school Lake Travis Elementary. We had to move out of the school zone to get my daughter out of LTE and when she arrived at Serene Hills, they had to test her to see how far behind she was, because as I was told, the kids we get from there are very far behind and we need to catch them up.

The special education program is really outstanding. The teachers really tried to the best of their abilities there. However the amount of homework was terrible my child always had homework that he spent hours on. We found the long hours of the school days didn’t work great with our schedules. It really gave almost no downtime to my child after getting home, eating, bathing, and homework before it was time for bed. This school is also terrible about bullying and racism. My child was called racial slurs and had racist comments said to them on a daily basis from other students. My child also had other kids trying to fight them in the bathrooms. When my child would take up for themselves there was punishment on both sides. I am glad we are no longer at HBMS.

As we become further distanced from our children’s education, naturally due to the maturing of the student, I can only comment on this as a now distanced parent. I would say the schools in Lake Travis and specifically this school are mediocre. The schools lack buses for many students due to the community’s high cost of living that does not allow drivers to live nearby. The district’s continued focus on sports is pathetic. The small number of openings lend itself to having to be nearly a D1 college player to play any sports due to the limited number of openings. Couple this with the fact many of the teachers are not adequately teaching the children. This is only as assumption as both my children that have attended here need extra assistance in subjects like math and literature. Overall, I am underwhelmed as the district seems to not appropriate money correctly. They have no problem, for example, putting in a stadium, but make parents drive their students to school, which sometimes takes over an hour each way both for pickup and drop off. Lake Travis does not lend itself to a quality of life that it once was known for. This is especially true if both parents work, as your child will likely require additional trips to tutoring on top of being taken to and from school.

Great school. I spent my first year in middle school in Lake Travis and my last two in Hudson Bend. I personally liked Hudson Bend more than Lake Travis. The teachers are very good and the students are great.

I am a 6th grade student at this wonderful school. I have only been at this school for less than a year, but I know that Hudson Bend Middle School is definitely an incredible school. I have learned so many great things so far. The teachers are awesome and my academic classes, as well as my electives (theater and choir) are really fun and interesting. :)

This is the best school my kids have ever attended. Both, 7th and 8th grade teachers, as well as the entire office staff have done an outstanding job. Everyone is extremely involved and go above and beyond to ensure that the kids succeed. I recommend this school to all of my friends and everyone I come in contact with. Most of all, my kids love this school as well. Keep up the awesome job HBMS.

This school ranks below other ones in the district. I'm not sure how long Mr. Robinson has been the principal, but looking at the TEA School report card, this school doesn't seem to be improving. Maybe a new principal would help so the students get the attention they need.

I find that Mr. Robinson is the best principal I have ever encountered and is on top of things. He knows how to handle the PTA...be realistic but firm with them. He is INCREDIBLE with the students and parents, and I assume is the same with the teachers. I only wish that the high school could have an ounce of what this man has. Both my kids have had great expereinces at Hudson Bend. Get ready parents, the high school principal is AWFUL. Mr. Robinsonson I hope will someday move up, he is just a fabulous leader.

So far, I only have one child here in 6th. She is doing wonderfully. She has trouble sometimes with work but the teachers are always there to help during and after school if needed. The principals are awesome. I was disappointed that I went to one of the anti-bullying meetings and hardly any parents showed up. I knew of a kid that was a problem or had problems with bullying and she (her mom/dad) didn't bother to show up. But the school stays on top of all of the kids problems. At least for me and my child, we have no problems here. My child has not seen any drug issues or fighting going on. I am happy my child is happy here.

We like 7th much better than 6th. The teachers seem to care a little more and be a little more laid back..
