This school is very competitive to other schools within round rock isd. My kid really loves this school.

McNeil is a beautiful campus, but it's disrespected by students. They don't get in trouble for these things either. "Get to class" is heard after class has already started by teachers, administrators, and campus police. It's the same students and they never get held accountable for their actions. The .."troublemakers" don't get punished, so of course they do it again. Students who fight, attack other students, severely bully, etc. get too many chances before being sent to the alternative school, if they are sent at all. This goes for General Education and Special Education. They get away with everything possible; from ignoring the dress code to skipping class to being rude to teachers... It's like all kids these days- no punishment = no learning a lesson = no preparation for the real world.7The Special Education department does their best, but some of the teachers/staff don't care and are just there for the measly paycheck. They will openly talk bad about students and other teachers in front or non-verbal students or distracged

This school has been amazing for my son. As an advanced student, he’s had access to great classes that have challenged him while still allowing him to perform well. The school added a science and technology wing in 2022 to reduce overcrowding. The Engineering wing is amazing with lots of great technology and tools. Those teachers have real world experience to help back what they’re teaching.The teachers are a mix of good, great and just Ok. But overall, we feel our student is well prepared. We love the great mix of electives! The music department is stellar. The students consistently win lots of academic awards in Debate, Business, Robotics, Computer Science and Engineering. I would definitely recommend especially for advanced kids!

faculty is terrible, not helpful at all. my counselor gave me none of the classes I wanted. everyone is rude and not helpful. don't go here if you want to succeed in life

Not sure why this school is so under rated , but this is the best place my daughter had very nice and helpful teachers who were always ready to help with the best they could , even the counselors in the school are very nice and give all resources and all the Guidence . Nice good school with teachers who make efforts for students .

Horrible, This places is full of bad people who influence kids to be bad towards other people instead of being respectful as a peer. This place felt like a juvenile detention where students had no freedom of opinion or speech unless if it’s the same opinion as the teachers and APs. Every single person I know from that place hates that place. I hope there’s a procedure to keep this place out of my memory because It was the worst 4 years of my life and I’ve been in deadly hurricanes.

My son will be graduating this year and moving on to college. The new Flex time program has allowed him to get extra help when needed for upcoming tests or assignments. Thanks to the diverse AP offerings he will be starting college with more than 9 class credits.

We had high hopes when we switched from Stoney Point to McNeil. McNeil was slightly better, but not much. Most teachers are difficult to work with and seem jaded, as if they expect all students of trying to put something over on them. We will be homeschooling next year.

I recently moved here with high expectations and ready for a great year ahead at this high school but i soon realized this school wasn't as great as i thought. The teachers are very rude and they do not care about any of the students progress. When its lunchtime, you cannot leave the cafeteria unless you have a pass which never happens. How does the school expect their students to become independent and to grow up to be successful if they won't even trust the students to leave the lunchroom. I've witnessed many forms of physical and verbal bullying at this school. It's also very crowded and i feel unsafe going here.

My son just began his freshman year and, so far, we love it. Teachers are involved and communicative. Great academics, support and plenty of extra curricular activities, clubs, and sports. My son is not a football player and, so far, he has not experienced any of the bullying from students, or apathy from teachers, mentioned by the previous parent. In fact, I'm not certain how anyone could allege that the school is not focused on academics, on August 24th, when classes did not even begin until August 26th. It seems a rather premature and unfair assumption. Again, our son's experience, at McNeil, is just beginning, and only time will tell..... But, thus far, we are very happy, hopeful, and excited about the next four years.

Disorganized, overcrowded, and unsafe. Principle is incompetent and rude to parents. Teachers don't care if students learn and take care of their friends' kids & forget the rest. Focus is on cheer leading and football, not academics. Cheerleaders come to school in very revealing outfits and TONS of makeup (14 year olds in false eyelashes!) and openly flirt with male teachers. Football players roamed the freshman orientation looking for "victims" joking with each other about what would be fun to do to certain kids. They antagonized my son and others who were trying to find their lockers. They are given freedom to do as they please and bully at will with no consequences. Not a good choice if you're looking for a safe, academic focused school.

This school was so terrible when I went there (2011-12), I ended up graduating online just so I don't have to deal with that mess. Fellow students would rather pretend not to hear you than to see what you want, the teachers don't care if you actually learn or not, they just want you to do good on the TAKS, the principal treats the student body like 12-year old delinquents, the campus police force has officers that unnecessarily intimidate students, the bus drivers seem like they were hired right off the street of downtown Austin, and the atmosphere gives you an unneeded "down" feeling. One time I was sent to ISS (It was my fault, nothing the school did wrong here) for three days, and one day when lunch was sent up to us all we got was two slices of bread, a slice of cheese and an apple. The ISS supervisor gave off a frustrated sigh when we told him that we did not get meat in our sandwiches, and when he came back with the proper lunches, he literally threw them onto a desk like they were a backpack. The district also lies to students about policies, for example we were told that if RRISD was not independent, the student body would be forced to wear uniforms. I hope they change soon
