So I’m a student here at prairie and there’s a lot to unpack. There is absolutely no punishment for kids who bully, fight, harass, etc. Of course there’s the usual suspension but when they come back they go right back to behaving the same way and the teachers make no note of it and it seems like they don’t care about how much those students hurt others. The teachers at this school can be fun but there are some that need to be corrected. I got sorta insulted by a teacher for me stuttering. But overall they’re okay. The things they teach you are accurate (as any school) so I feel it’s kinda normal. One thing is the food. I either starve or just pack my own because the food there is absolute garbage. I would rather just go hungry then eat that excuse for a meal.Overall 3/10 I wish I changed schools.

Kids constantly harrass the other students that are apart of the LGBTQ+ community, I hear kids calling eachother slurs, lots o students are very racist to eachother, the students never listen to teachers, some of the teachers don't discipline students, some students are wrongly accused and get in trouble for no reason, kids ditch/skip and are constantly late to class, the special ed kids are treated very badly by other students, students often vandalize school property, students also often do drugs on campus

I have been an active parent/guardian in this community for almost 20 years. The administration at this school is truly terrible, mainly the principal. It has to be a crime for the way the current principal has run this school into the ground since his arrival. It's pretty obvious he does not care about the students or teachers. The kids are out of control. Cussing at each other and cussing at teachers, fighting, the n-word all run rampant. Any parent who visits this school and hears and sees the hallways should be appalled! These are kids ages 11-14 and it is disgusting and embarrassing how they talk, dress and behave. It is not safe and any child should not have to endure 6-7 hours of pure chaos. The principal was even caught on video in the middle of a nasty fight! Many of the long time teachers are retiring or have retired, left for other schools or left teaching, or have been forced out. This school is truly in shambles.

I have a daughter who is in 7th grade, who is extremely studious and loves to learn. The honors classes Math and Language Arts she has great teachers and a learning environment. However, they do not offer honors for Social Studies and Science. They do something called CLUSTER Science for studious students, but it is done in the same classroom as students who are very disruptive, disrespectful and don't do their work while refusing to learn. They treat the teacher so bad that she cannot teach and she ends up crying and is frustrated. When my daughter walks in for period 8, the teacher's eyes are bloodshot from crying from trying to teach previous classes. No support is being given to her and the 7th grade Dean and the 7th grade Counselor should play a major role in helping and getting out the kids who prevent the teacher from teaching and the studious students from learning. Basically this Science class is the worst class ever and CLUSTER teaching did not occur this school year 2021-2022 due to the awful behaviors. It is so sad that people who can actually do something for teachers to teach and for studious students to learn, don't do their job. In the Social Studies class, boys pass gas in front of the teacher, then make rounds around the classroom, and in front of girls' faces and cause a lot of ruckus and keeps the teacher from teaching and kids who want to learn and grow academically lose out. Kids all throughout the school draw inappropriate pictures of human body parts. Which is disturbing to look at, especially for the good kids who are there to learn. In addition, when you enter the building you must check-in at the Security and show them your ID. Those security employees do not greet and smile, they give you a very cold feeling. When you tell them I need to go to the office for after school activities forms or anything else they tell you fill them out online to get ride of you. Everybody knows you must go to the grade level office or come in to fill them out. That's what they informed the parents. They do not allow you to move about in the building they tell you to stay near the security office standing, even though you told them I need to go to the office for forms and other assistance but they will not let you and tell you lies such as you can do that online and they do their best to get you to leave. No welcoming feeling as you enter the building from anyone. My daughter went to a public elementary school, and we never experienced any of this.

This school has gone downhill quickly. My daughter used to do really well here and we recently had to pull her. The students are running the school. There are several other parents pulling their students before they will attend Overland. The advanced courses are the same as many of the normal classes at some of the other schools. There are unspeakable acts happening in the bathrooms that should not be happening in any public school let alone a middle school.

This school is a joke, my daughter had to go to California to see her grandpa because he had a couple days to live. My daughter is very close to him just like a dad to daughter. We called the attendance lady to excuse my daughter and she said "no that's not a good excuse " my daughter was very hurt. She gives my daughter dirty stares at school, like are you serious? This is not a joke, what are you a kid! My daughter also gets very sick during December, she still won't excuse if we don't have a doctors note. Sometimes I don't take her to the doctor. Where am I going to get my doctor note? One time we gave her a doctor note but still no excuse. My daughter still does the incomplete work and tries very hard to get her work done. Education is not a game... Very disappointed in this school.

I'm currently attending prairie and I love it. It's honestly a really good school the teachers really try to help you succeed. They help when you have bad grades and when your having a bad day. I mostly live the drama class because in that class were all like the big family. The teachers really try to make a student be happy and content with the learning environment . If your student goes here and they complain then it's there fault not the teachers they must be doing something wrong and being a distraction the teachers are friendly and just over all amazing.

A good school for special need students. The special education teachers are wonderful. They work with the parents . The teachers seem to enjoy their classes.

i went to prairie my 6th 7th & half of my 8th Grade year my mom pulled me out because all of the crazy drama this a is horrible school. I was in com.8-2a & our dean did not help with the drama i was getting ROCKS thrown at me name calling. It was the horrible. It wasn't just the bullying our math teacher was not experienced she would laugh & talk with the kids instead of teach. My social studies teacher called kids dumb. if you are looking for a middle school i suggest looking elsewhere.

I went to Prairie for all 3 years and I for the most part loved it. Many of the teachers that I came in contact with were nice and friendly. I will say that the teachers can be a little nosy, which can be a good thing. My friends and I were having personal issues and pretty much the whole staff jumped in to help. This happened actually every year I attended... MOST of the teachers will jump in if your grades aren't superb, but you will occasionally encounter a teacher who wants to teach you about how it will be in high school and won't care about your grade. My little brother is entering the 6th grade and we are definitely sending him here.
