We have been very pleased with Liberty. We have not had any issues or concerns. We are pleased with the teachers and administration. Middle school is a transition for students and you do not get the hand holding that elementary school provides, but this is a good thing for this age group. Unfortunately, negative comments travel easier than positive comments, so you most likely hear the things that made a few unhappy versus all the students that are having a great experience here. Our student is really happy here!! We also know the majority of families that we talk to are also having a really good experience.

In plain words, I see that these bullies are half the reason for my son’s ulcer. The school thought he was missing school because of the bullies. But no, he developed an ulcer because of them!! Everyone is going to hear my mouth Monday. I don’t even want to hear a Karen response or business response. You aren’t striving to do better if you let bullies be bullies.

A very select few of teachers legitimately try and help their students understand the criteria they’re learning. However, students don’t even need to pay attention in class in order to pass the grade. Because of this, students don’t attempt to try their best, knowing they can just easily retake a test and get full credit. But for the students who are falling behind, there are little to no tutors to help them. There is so much bullying at this school and the Hanover County School Board refuses to give any punishment to those children other than a minor slap on the wrist and being told not to do it again. If a bully happens to have a BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan) or 504, they get off scott-free and are given little to no punishment. There are almost always rumors of children handling or smuggling drugs or other tobacco products into the school bathrooms. For instance, a kid on my bus was found vaping. Another was doing it as well, but it was just out of sight of the cameras and they never got caught. I could go on about the school and its many flaws, especially with the students, but I’ll keep it short. Do not send your child here.

The teachers for the most part are doing their best, but if there is a problem with bullying, bigotry, and racism in this school, it’s because the school board is modeling it through their words, actions, and policies. Look it up! They are constantly making headlines and not in a good way. Hanover county was supposed to have a great reputation. That’s why we moved here. Unfortunately, they are relying on a reputation that no longer exists because the school board has destroyed it.

My son was pantsed in the sky light hallway and called a biscuit boy. What does that mean? Why were his biscuits out? Is he a biscuit boy?

This school was for the most part a positive experience...Many of the teachers genuinely care about their students, and do the best they can to help them. Many teachers at Liberty do genuinely have a connection with their students.I do have a couple complaints, though:1. Bully and FightsBullying is really excessive among the students, while I do think the teachers and administrators do their best to resolve these issues, it sometimes seems like they really don't care. Fighting is also relatively common among the students, though administrators and teachers do try their best to resolve them.2. Cafeteria FoodThe cafeteria food is quite awful. This is probably the only thing I can genuinely complain about! I'd suggest having your kid pack, instead of eating that filth...Liberty Middle School was a positive outcome, and I hope many students have the same experience!

The school is straight up trash, Some teachers are nice but there's one i hate the most. A lot of racism happens but the teachers never give a good enough punishment to the racist students. A lot of students vape in the bathroom which leaves a horrible smell. Bullying happens a lot but staff doesn't do much about it. The school never gives breaks thinking that they're robots and that makes their mental health a lot worse. They never really care about the students and when they do, Its just so cringy.. Like there was poster that said "Spread Kindness among us" Like you are so late because among us is just a dead game now. If you live on the south of Hanover, Please go or get your child to a different school, unless you wanna make their mental health shatter.

I agree with the reviewers about the amount of bullying that occurs at this school. Please don't use the excuse that most schools have bullying. That is unacceptable. Children at this building are being hurt and administration does nothing to address this problem. Parents of victims need to stand together and demand something be done. Please don't send your children to Liberty until they do.

This school has been a place of learning and making amazing friends. Most of the teachers are great but some are not. The bathrooms are pretty gross and the computers are pretty old.

As a student who attends this school, I agree that there are some pros and cons to going here. What I like about this school are the teachers, friendly staff, etc. I believe that the teachers have given me a good education and are capable of giving me the knowledge I need for the outside world. However, the cons are that there really is some bullying that's left unacknowledged by the staff. The teachers/staff also fail to give the proper consequences to students who have started the bullying. So while I do like the school, I feel like there's a few things that should be fixed and given more attention to.

Liberty Middle School has provided both my children with an excellent opportunity to excel in both academics and athletics. The teachers and administrators have always been interested in doing what is in the best interest for my child, as well as the entire student population. I would reccommend those that want the facts on Liberty Middle School, either meet with the principle and get the comparison academic statistics, as well as the behavioural statistics-these facts will prove that we are above average in our academic arena, as well as way below in negative behaviour issues, compared to other similiar schools in the County-or choose to get involved on the various board opportunities that are available to parents that want to help make middle school a positive experience for their child. Middle School, anywhere, can be difficult due to the changes that our children are going through...only through coming together as a community, can we make it a better experience for the majority. As a parent of two children that attend Liberty, I have chosen to join with the administrators and teachers, in making middle school a positive experience for all students by being an active parent.

Liberty is one of the worst schools in the state of Virginia. It is overcrowded and full of bullying that goes unacknowledged by a majority of administrators and fails to be accurately punished by most faculty. The majority of teachers spend more time yelling at students than educating. Its educational standards are not up to par with where they should be to accurately prepare children to succeed in this world. It is an unhealthy environment.
