Excellent teachers and staff that care about the students. I highly recommend this school. It’s been a very positive learning environment for all 3 of my kids.

This school is great for the average student. If you’re child needs any additional support or assistance, they will be labeled as difficult. We moved to this area for the schools and that was a big mistake. There aren’t many extracurricular activities, parent involvement is not encouraged, and specialists are not utilized. (I.e. reading, math, etc.) DO NOT MOVE HERE FOR THE SCHOOLS!!!!! They are disappointing.

My son has several challenges & we moved soon he could go to a better school, Im very glad I did, He has lots of support & I know the genuinely care about him. I just wish I didn't cost 3x as much just to live in an area with a good school. Not very fair to children who parents cannot afford 2000 a month rent. Teachers seem to really care & enjoy their jobs & that is so important.

Overall we’ve had a very positive experience with this school. It has taken a few months of getting f to know each other to reach a place of acceptance on both parts, me as the parent and them as the school. No matter what’s gone on I’ve never doubted their commitment to my son. Plus, he loves this school, he loves going everyday and learning, the kids the teachers. He is very comfortable here.

Broadneck is an excellent school! We love the small class sizes and the communication from the school. Although this is only the first year our child has gone to BES, we have found her teachers to be kind and creative in their approach to differentiated learning. BES offers many clubs, sports and acitivities and the parents seem very involved. We are very pleased with this school and would definitely recommend it to others.

I have had horrific experiences with this school. The staff is all but completely incompetent. The only person I have ever spoken to who I felt actually cared about what I had to say was the Assistant Principal but even then his lack of action was disturbing. The principal seems to be completely out of control of his staff and the guidance counselor is a nightmare. I moved here for the "great schools" and now I can see they are anything but. Even the stories I hear from other parents are nightmarish and I really hope to convince them to contribute reviews here as well. It's not terrible, but I don't see why this school is rated so much higher than others because I have yet to see anything that makes them superior to any other public school. If they employ bad teachers, you're going to have to deal with bad teachers, there's not much to prevent that and paying more for housing just because a school is ranked a 10 on this site is just absurd. My child's teacher caused serious issues with them. If your student is completely "normal" in every way and does not require any additional assistance or patience, they may be ok at this school. But then the bullying from the other students will get them. Even physical altercations between students rarely result in any form of punishment.

I have 2 students who have went to Broadneck. We moved here from out of state (military family) and the overall experience is mediocre. The school does offer several after school clubs. They do have art & music. But the school is extremely over populated. The over population creates several issues, from rushed lunches, clubs that are full, to lack of personability for students and parents. It's a rather militant environment, with so.many.rules. The students have very little recess (weather permitting). Some of the teachers who run the jump rope, dance clubs are very exclusive and do not allow just any student who wants to participate in it to do so. The academia is driven by state testing. The teaching styles are not innovative. There is very little technology used in the classroom, other than the "smart board" used by teachers. There is an excessive use of worksheets, and the lesson plans seem outdated. The teachers are not easily accessible and communicating with them can be a challenge. My recommendation would be to seek out a smaller elementary school in the area. Parents of other schools nearby seem to have a very personable, welcoming experience there.

Broadneck is an exceptionally well organized institution with generally high quality teachers and a top-notch administration.

Broadneck Elem School has all kinds of fun activities like jump rope club, chess club, dance programs, school plays, band and choir, enrichment classes, etc. so our kids have had fun and met a lot of other kids quickly (we are new here). They also really like their classes and warm, experienced teachers. Good fieldtrips like drownproofing and Biztown are so practical.

The way this school is run is deplorable. Listening to my child and her friends speak of the teacher and the school environment would make one think they are in military school. Deadlines, prohibiting parents from being involved, strict rules, etc. The kids at this school get 20 minutes a day for recess and none on days they have gym! The lunch menu is horrendous and there is little emphasis on physical fitness (staff included).

2 of my children have gone to Broadneck and we are VERY happy with the school. The teachers (all of them that we've had) really care about the kids. I have nothing but great things to say about this school.

I have three kids and 2 currently at the school, my eldest is now in middle school and doing very well. It is really a great school and the teachers and administrators are excellent. I would like to see a foreign language being taught but understand the constraints. PTO is great and considering the size they really provide great quality education and lots of support to each child. The new closed in classrooms which were finally finished in August 2012 now make it a world class school.

Great staff and wonderful learning atmosphere. That is why it is a Blue Ribbon school.
