If the grading is 1 to 10, I would give the school a 10.

This small school allows for a tight community that works hard to get the very best opportunities for our kids! Our teaching staff is talented and dedicated - this is a school that they all WANT to teach in! Parents volunteer tons, which means there are always resources available to ensure the staff and kids get what they need. There are so many great extra-curricular offerings, too, so its not just what the curriculum has to offer, but so much more! And any parent can bring any enrichment program to the school. This was one of the first ALPs schools in AACPS, so differentiated teaching is a high priority. People joke that its the public school that feels like a private school. Well, that's not bad, is it!? We love our school!

Wonderful teachers and administration that have high expectations. These expectations are realized in the students through high standards and parent involvement.

Jones is a great school, if it were a perfect world! Since the world is more diverse and requires interpersonal skills to deal with an increasing diverse world, it delays growth in this area. But, other than that, I feel it is a good school and my daughter enjoys it!

The principal is wonderful, a great leader of a wonderful team of teachers. They make sure that ALL kids get the what they need, whether it's some help to catch up or more challenges. There's also a wonderful feeling of community there, because so many families are very active, being involved in the classroom and with extracurricular activities.

Jones is a public school that behaves like a top tier private academy. Students are held to a high standard and the staff take the time to know each child and their capabilities. However, like most top tier private institutions this school lacks both ethnic and economic diversity and as a result the students are not provided a education that enables them to fully understand and work within an increasingly diverse society. It is important to note that Severna Park is not a diverse area and so the entire district suffers this ill.
