My 2 children have attended LKO for the last 3 years and I have had nothing but a positive experience when it relates to teachers and admin! The school has worked very hard to make sure as many kids needs are met as possible. Student population is varied and it provides a good environment for learning with peers from all different backgrounds and abilities.

We've been at Lake Orienta from Kindergarten to 4th grade now, almost 5th. While the curriculum focuses strongly on FSA scores, it is not the teachers or the admins fault, it is unfortunately our state's fault. We have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff and teachers. There are lots of after school activities for the kids, families, (they even host parent date nights where you can drop kids off for a movie!) and extra-curricular activities like cross country and music. There are a few bad apples here, but that is the fault of the parents and not due to a lack of teacher or staff intervention. I've been notified immediately if my child was involved in an incident. We put a lot into our child and his education, and so we get a lot out of it. We are going to miss it after next year!

My daughter transferred to this school last year from Winter Springs Elementary for 3rd grade. At first I was very excited about her going to this school because of it's high rating on the Great Schools website. My excitement soon turned to dismay as I realized that this school simply does not care about their students. All they care about is passing the stupid FCAT's and that is strictly what they teach toward! They are not teaching for the student to actually learn or to help them in problematic areas. Last year my daughter went from making A's & B's to C's & D's. I requested tutoring for her and was told the spots were all full so I did my best to help her at home. The last month of the school year her teach was actually PADDING HER GRADES (majorly!) to pass her off to 4th grade so now she is in 4th making D's & F's and is not bringing home ANY papers so that I can't even tell what she is struggling with! I went to the school before Winter break to discuss my concerns with the principal only to have her send her secretary out to relay messages to me several times (rather than giving me 5 minutes of her time) and made promises to return my call after the holiday. Needless to say it is now February and I still have no call back. I am completely DISGUSTED with this school!

I feel it is a bit unjust for the teachers to be a part of this negative review because my quarrel is mainly with the Administrative Staff. I am an active parent & My son has been attending this school since Kindergarten, now heading into the third grade. All of his teachers have been amazing , very helpful , and genuine. The Admin. Staff on the other hand are very rude and treat you as if you are an inconvenience to them. I have had an incredible amount of instances with them, enough to get me to the point that I'm actually writing this review. As I said before the experience with the teachers has been great. It is the Admin. Staff that is causing this school to look bad and you are only as good as your entire team is.

We just moved to Altamonte Springs from out of state, and my child transferred to Lake Orienta Elementary. The enrollment process was an utter nightmare, and staff was far from being helpful. I wasn't offered any information on how things work around the school (i.e. food program, bus schedule, etc.). Whenever I asked a question, staff acted as if I was causing an inconvenience. The answers they provided were incomplete and unsatisfactory. As of right now, I am anything but impressed by Lake Orienta Elementary and its staff. I truly hope they make up for it through the provision of excellent education.

The SLD program is severely lacking in staff and in meeting the needs of its students. We are using a McKay scholarship to get out.

My sister and i both attended this school from kinder to 5th and we loved it because the school was very organized with everything up to date. The teachers were really helpful, they always had fun activities, the principal was very involved, they had great lunches, our specials teachers were always having great things for us to do. I can't name one teacher that is the best because they were all awesome!

We love this school! The principal is very in tune with the needs of all the students, encouraging parent involvement, insuring the highest quality of staff, and the most up to date technology which shows by our A score. But if our kids rated Lake Orienta they would simple say, It s a fun school!
