Yes, this school has switched principals in the last few years, but I don't think it's had any impact on the quality of the school. what I mean is, I don't think the switching of administrators has had a detrimental affect on the students. My daughter LOVES it here and the academics are wonderful. Previously she was in the Keller ISD, which was just okay. This district is far and above, better than what she as in. I saw one other post complained about bullying. I personally haven't had that problem. I don't think Vandagriff has issues that any other elementary school doesn't have with kids picking on other kids. That kind of issue exists pretty much everywhere.

In five years (2009-2014), Vandagriff Elementary has had four different principals, three different assistant principals, two different science coordinators, two different PEIMS coordinators, and multiple turnovers in staff. My son took spelling tests every week for 11 weeks, he only received one graded test back in this entire period. The administration changed the travel procedure for arrival days before state testing. Afterwards, students were late to school for weeks. The administration's response was the children weren't late for the test . . . Vandagriff seems to be the stepchild of the Aledo Schools.

I have four children that go to Vandagriff and the teachers are excellent. There is a strong group of volunteers, and great community support. The school itself is a little dated, but the teachers, administrators, and others more than make up for it.

Vandagriff has gone through several principles in the 3 years we've attended - that alone speaks volumes of it's deficiencies. The bullying at this school is deplorable. Complaints fall on deaf ears. Administration is defensive when asked for help. They are too concerned with their ratings at the state level - not the students. Morale is low, teachers are shuffled around and overworked and the students are crammed with so much homework that parents are required to become teachers at home to keep up. They can't keep a principle in place longer than 1.5 years and the parents are disgusted. The bus system is an abomination! Only the students who don't have a choice ride it. The lunchroom is supervised by a couple of staff and parent volunteers because the teachers are busy enjoying lunch in the teachers lounge. This, like the busses, creates an opportune environment for bullying. Very few parents are involved beyond lunch or class parties. There is only one counselor to almost 500 kids. If parents showed the same level of support at school as they do at our football games, our kids would be better for it. Don't even consider this district if your child has special needs. Shameful!

My two boys have attended Vandagriff for the last 4 years and we love it. The teachers are super dedicated and put their all into the it. My son was identified as dyslexic last year and has had plenty of help in that regard since. Both boys are reading well ahead of the curve and are very happy. The kindergarten teachers are amazing!

New Principal. Have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt all year but I really just am concerned and disappointed. She does not seem to interact with the kids, and she avoids parents. Morale is very low and staff is quitting right and left. Thankful we are almost finished with elementary school.
