have been in Aledo for about 7 years and have been bullied for the entire time I have lived here, everything that you report to the counselors/staff will be swept under the rug. For most of the time I have been in Aledo isd the teachers just seem to push you through their class so you can just pass, a lot of the teachers I have been with just do not seem to care about you learning anything, the high school/9th grade center you wont feel safe, i sure did not feel safe, i was bullied and tormented by students who were on the football team, since we live in aledo people only care about football. Most of the Schools funding goes to football. The bullying gets WAY too out of hand, i have been told by a staff member "are you sure they were not just joking?" when I reported I was being bullied. When i pulled out my phone to record what was happening when i was being bullied in the AMS building i was told by the principal to give her my phone to DELETE the video of the bullying HAPPENING. I have been called slurs, cussed out and have been told to k*** my self because i politely did not agree with their opinion, I would definitely not recommend send your child here, all the reports of bullying will be swept under the rug or given a slap on the wrist

Decent academics and college readiness programs, but absolutely atrocious community if you aren't a part of the "in crowd". Although it is common for high schoolers to be somewhat catty and vindictive, the school district does nothing to curb this behavior. Those who report bad behavior are treated the same as those who commit the behavior in the first place, and so long as you are a part of the school's sports team, it is guaranteed that there will be little repercussions for your actions. I still get extreme levels of anxiety entering the building despite having graduated a year and a half ago. This campus is not a safe place for practically any minority, and god-forbid you express any inclinations towards depression, anxiety, or academic struggles.

This school is full of toxicity and bullying. I've personally been called slurs, had my things stolen, sprayed with cleaning products, and all of this went ignored. I went to teachers, I went to councilors, and all that happened was a slap on the wrist. As for academics, compared to texas public schools, Aledo is above average, but students are frequently snubbed by their teachers, who care more about their own agenda than the care of the students. The band is honestly the only reason I'm staying here, since we're very successful in that regard.

The bullying in this school district is so bad. My daughter repeatedly reported bullying to her teachers, the school counselor, and other staff. They did nothing to stop the bullying until I made an official report. They did the bare minimum after that and did not expel anyone who participated even though part of harassment she received was sexual harassment. There is a rampant sense of entitlement from the parents, teachers, and students that permeates every part of Aledo. It’s awful here and all I wanted was a good school system for my kids.

I have been in the area a little over 5 months. I have children at the elementary, intermediate and 9th grade campus. Initially, I was met with prompt responses from the administration and my children were and are thriving. The only complaint I have is that the area isn’t very diverse and the use of racial slurs is out of control. The administration is passive at best at handling things of that nature and it seems to be acceptable behavior. I moved here because the school system had great ratings but I had no idea the people would be so insular. It’s not good trade off. Parents need to teach their children to not only be good students but good humans as well!

Bullyland sums it up best. I have experience with the elementary schools. Middle school, ninth grade campus, and high school with bad bullying problems. Wish we could move.

I attended Aledo schools since kindergarten through my senior year. Aledo is not only competitive in sports but also in academics as well. It is very challenging to be in the top ten percent, as I was not but I had a 95 GPA. The high school is wonderful, teachers are great, and I feel that I was so lucky to attend such a great school! Don't let bitter parents whose kids may not have made a certain team or something be bitter and fool you with their opinion of Aledo high school! Take my opinion, an actual student who attended Aledo. It is a very challenging school, you get penalized for turning in HW late, you cannot retake quizzes and tests just because. You genuinely have to work hard for the grades you recieve.

Do not move to this area because of the schools. They are not friendly to previous homeschoolers and if you are not from this area you are treated as an outsider. Everything Aledo is sports. If you are an academic and want to get a great education, this is NOT the place for you. If you want a watered down education where it is impossible to fail and easy to get good grades, this is the place for you. Teachers allow students to retake tests and homework until they get a 70%. You are allowed to turn in homework whenever you want with no penalty. This is NOT getting our kids ready for the real world. You won't have a job long if you turn your work in when you feel like it or if you have to redo it several times to get something that will pass. This is Aledo. Its all about athletics not education.

I love going to school here. All of my teachers are willing to go the extra mile to help me, even letting me stay before/after school in their class to get help with my work. If I have a question, i'm never afraid to ask. I never have problems with how the teachers teach and the assignments they give us. It's a very challenging school district, but the rewards are worth it.

My daughter has been in the Aledo ISD since kindergarten. She has learned so much more compared to her friends that attend other districts. The teachers are always accessible for both parents and students. The campuses are well maintained and provide a safe and inviting atmosphere for students to learn.
