It's not the fanciest, most up to date school in the district but we love this school. Our kids have learned so much and genuinely enjoy going to school here.

Beware this school is a nightmare. Children are bullies both girls and boys. Teachers aren’t any better. Administration is poor and always changing. Read “Accountable” by Dashka Slater! It’s like that but worse.

Our son just finished his K year at Cornell. He had a great year. He loved his teachers, learned a bunch, and had a lot of fun. His teacher was a new teacher at Cornell (but not new to teaching) and has done a wonderful job. There are 3 assessments over the course of the year and she provided us with detailed feedback on progress.K is only 3.5 hrs but the school offers wonderful before and after care (Pines program) where English, Spanish, AND Mandarin are offered. The parents and PTA are generally very engaged. It feels like a strong community that supports education.

Strong leadership and dedicated, experienced staff. Teachers in all 5 grades (so far) have been not just good, but great. A caring and inclusive community. Solid and meaningful programs to promote empathy and reduce bullying. An active PTA. The physical facilities are well-maintained but old. Many classrooms are in temporary buildings. A sweet walkable location in the heart of a pre-war streetcar suburb.

We've been part of Cornell for 7+ years. Cornell is lucky to have wonderful teachers, like Jacqueline Wiley, 5th grade, who put their heart and soul to teach their students, but unfortunately there are some pretty poor educated teachers who in my opinion shouldn't be teaching there. The school has experienced yard supervisors, who are Cornell parents as well. Cornell feels like family to us, but there is a lot of room for improvement as well!

excellent school for english language learners. Good teachers that are able to adapt their teaching to different kids. And really nice, including kids.
