I moved my daughter from public school into Golestan during the pandemic. Online learning was not working well for us and Golestan was one of the few schools open and operating with meticulous guidelines to keep everyone safe. Challenges at home and in the world meant that my daughter arrived with a host of “quirky” behaviors that I feel certain would not have been tolerated elsewhere. At Golestan, the staff and teachers rose up to meet my daughter exactly where she was and to support her (and me!) completely and unconditionally. Over the several years we’ve been at Golestan, my daughter has gone from shy and withdrawn to confident and funny. While it’s difficult for me to pinpoint exactly how this happened, I give most, if not all, of the credit to Golestan and the staff’s unwavering support for my daughter and our family. We arrived hoping for a safe haven. We got that and so much more. Golestan has been, for us, a game changer.

This school has been transformational in my child’s life. He struggled greatly with school anxiety before Golestan, and now school is a joyful experience. We are now part of a supportive community, instead of a community of isolated individuals. A Golestan education is a deeply thoughtful experience where children are nurtured and encouraged to be children, while academically challenged, in a gorgeous setting. When I think that this school or community can’t get better, it does. I cannot recommend this amazing school enough. I only wish we had found it before second grade!

Golestan is an amazing school. The teachers are loving, warm and engaged and my child is so happy and grounded there. The school does a wonderful job welcoming both the kids and the parents into the community. The outdoor play area, classrooms, garden, and kitchen are all beautiful and so well thought out. It is truly a special school and worth touring to see if it the right place for your child and family.

Golestan fosters interdisciplinary learning through practical and real world projects that also enhance each students independence. The community is warm and beautiful through seasonal gatherings and regular, rich, reporting. The staff is well trained, highly motivated, patient, and creative with their learning plans. My family, especially my daughter, are profoundly happy to be part of the mini-utopia!
