My child has been at Pickett's Mill for the last three years and we have loved the experience. When we had to take on another child for a year due to a military deployment they helped them out and made them feel so welcomed. The PTA is very active and they put on some great events. We always look forward to them!

Best in the West! Pickett’s Mill is a Lighthouse School and instills the Seven Habits of Leaders in all of their classrooms. Most recently all of the K-2 teachers were Orton-Gillingham trained! My youngest is benefiting from this amazing phonics program! Admin, teachers, and all of the staff are friendly and make us feel welcome. We are beyond happy at this wonderful school.

I have 2 children at Pickett’s Mill, this is our 4th Elementary school we have attended. This is the best school yet! My children love going to school everyday. The communication is so good, the teachers are engaged. We feel so lucky to be apart of this community.

We have a first grader at Picket’s Mill and have been thrilled with every aspect of the school. We moved from Milton (North Fulton) and have liked Picket’s Mill far better than our daughter’s previous elementary school. The administration at Picket’s Mill is especially fantastic.

My son is wrapping up his kindergarten year and I couldn't be more pleased. There is constant communication from the teacher via weekly newsletters and from the school via texts, dial outs, and the school website.Whenever I am in the building the staff is friendly and helpful. They offer many after school clubs and school events such as Bingo Night, Movie Night, and Spring Fling. All of this really helps build the culture of the school. I am very happy with the education and support my son is receiving at Pickett's Mill and he absolutely loves going to school every day!

I have multiple children who have attended this school for the past 7 years. When we first came to Pickett's Mill - we LOVED it. Intelligent teachers who really put time into my children. A wonderful principle and front office staff. It was a positive, warm environment and I felt like my children were getting a really great education. Then the principle retired and the current principle took the job. To say that the school changed overnight would be a huge understatement. All of the really great teachers either retired or changed schools within two years. New teachers were hired that were HORRIBLE. All of my children have had a VERY negative 5th grade year experience. One of the teachers actually told me that maybe my child just "needs to fail" so that he can learn a lesson about trying harder. She told me this in OCTOBER. Two months after school started. Rather than coming up with an action plan to help him - she suggested I just let him fail. Wow. My husband and I talked to the principal about this and she said she would call me back to setup a meeting and discuss this further. Never heard back. Repeated follow up calls from me resulted in nothing. No returned call. No support for our situation. My youngest child has been bullied repeatedly and nothing has been done about it. One of my children was so mistreated by the teacher that 3 years later we are STILL working to rebuild his self-esteem and help with the anxiety he developed while in her class. He completed changed while in her class. She completely broke his spirit. Another of my children was subjected to his teacher repeatedly picking up the kids desks and DUMPING their supplies on the floor if she thought they were not tidy. She was reported by most of the parents - she is still there. Nothing was done. The school used to focus on the "7 Habits" very heavily. Now they are just signs on the wall and are not reinforced. I guess once they got the "Lighthouse School" title, the principle decided to stop pushing it. My kids used to come home daily and tell me which of the 7 Habits they focused on that day. Now, my youngest can hardly remember what they are when I ask him to repeat them to me. I used to highly recommend this school to people. Now, I advise people to stay away. At one time, this was a sweet little school with excellent academics. Sadly, I am now counting the days until we leave.

This is our 1st year at PMES I have 3 children enrolled here. So far we love it! The teachers and staff are great very helpful. I feel this school should be ranked alot high than a 7.

I have 2 children enrolled in this school. The academics and extra opportunities to grow and learn are great. One of them is in the advanced learning program (Target) which meets once per week and my other child has regular classes. I don't know why GS.org has this school rated a 7. It is a lighthouse certified school and should be at least a 9.

My son is wrapping up his first year in kindergarten at Pickett's Mill and I can speak for my entire family when I say the experience has been an absolute joy. The teachers and staff are wonderful and my son is thriving. There's a sense that they are picking up their stride and on their way to being one of the top elementary schools. I look forward to seeing what happens next year as my son enters first grade, and I can't wait for my daughter to join him at PME as she enters kindergarten 2018-19!

When I left that school, I was so happy. All the teachers did not care for me for some odd reason. I hated the principal

Never felt so unwelcome at a school. Went in to tour the school as we were looking at houses in the area. The secretary at the front desk advised us we need to make an appointment and would be shown around by a student.... apparently the administration couldn't be bothered. She also made sure to let us know houses start at 200k plus and there were no apartments or trailer parks near by we could look in... We have no problem affording the area but would never send our child here. Disgusting.

The gift of teaching is a very narrow yet all teachers do not have the same goal. Each teacher at PME has a different style to help every individual child progress. As you walk, learn and discover PME has the ability to be one united school intent on making a child succeed. From the cafeterias to the custodians and administrators are all very happy to help a child go forward with the basic fundamental understanding to learn. As a mother of 3 boys who attend(ed) PME 2008-2015. I have learnt, if you want your child to succeed at elementary school level. The parent must be involved and show their support for their child(s) education by visiting the school on a regular basis.

Although, there appear to be elements of brilliance at Pickett's Mill, I am disheartened by what appears to be a political culture fostered by the school administration. I encourage them to engage parents in embracing all students not just those deemed "talented" and truly advocate for student success though the entire school community. I believe they pursued teaching with that intent and encourage them to return to that mission.

Horrible school for children with special needs. Teacher lacks experience and compassion, with no forward thinking support from the administration. Although this school is rated high for children who learn in a similar fashion, those who have needs beyond the basics will go lacking support from this school. Hoping changes made in the City and other counties will make their way to this school in the next few years.

We have had a new amazing principal since the 2012-13 school year. She cares about each of the students and does what is best for the school. The curriculm is handed down by our goverenment. All public schools have to teach it but the school goes beyond the curriculum and teaches the students life skills that are truly important through being good role models and teaching the 7 habits.

I have two children who have attended Pickett's Mill and it has been a really good experience for both of them. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students is a great life skill that my children will take with them hopefully throughout their lives. Great teachers who care and use much of the technology that has been provided that includes smart boards, laptops, two computer labs and a library stocked with desktop computers. My children have been challenged and enjoy school as a result of the curriculum with a special acknowledgement to the Target Program.
