The school is very well run, academics are excellent and the teachers work closely with parents to keep them informed. The school takes a very active approach towards bullying as well. The principal can often be seen on the playground interacting with the children, and eve secretary and nurse are wonderful to work with.

My child has attended this school for a couple years now. I did much research on elementary schools in the area back when she started Kindergarten, and at that time, Thorndyke Rd. was one of the top schools in the city. I have no say, I am not impressed. They have issues with parent involvement - for good reason. I participate as much as I can, but it's a little intimidating when the PTG runs the show - they're everywhere, and they're very "clique-y". It appears as if they're the only parents that matter around there. Promises are not kept, action is not often taken, and the teachers we've had experience with have not been so wonderful for one reason or another. The drop-off and pick-up situation is a nightmare, and there is no parking anywhere. The vice principal is rude and downright frightening. On the bright side? The secretary in the office and the nurse are absolutely wonderful. =]
