Toxic 2017-2018 school year. An administrator interfered with the nurse caring for an autistic child. I almost filed charges.

This school has many great teachers and people here but there many things people can get away with. For example I got called a slur in class and my teacher did nothing about it. The dean doesn’t take some report’s seriously and most students I know are scared or too intimidated to approach him, including myself.

Sun Ridge has an issue with communicating in entirety to the parents. I have several children - this is the first one that has gone to Sun Ridge and he will openly tell everyone that he has learned next to nothing in several classes. They only take an interest in the students that either have the personality to make big commotions (good or bad) or parents that have the time to consistently make noise. There is bullying daily. Racism is really bad at this school. The social dysfunction is so bad here that learning becomes of extremely low importance. Survival is number one for the students at this school. Our experience as a family has been so negative and sad. We moved to El Paso for a calmer life, but didn't realize that there are only a few decent schools, and Sun Ridge is definitely not even close to one of them. For whatever reason, Sun Ridge only makes an effort for the child that knows how to be a 'star' student even if they are bullies and display gross behavior. The child that needs academic help and is quiet will be completely ignored, overlooked and they will pass them to move them out without truly caring about the child. The times I reached out, the Vice Principal and Counselor were professional and kind. But there were no effective changes. No follow up. One teacher reached out to me one time. I really appreciate that one teacher who did care and made an effort that one time. My child is regularly marked absent in classes. Sometimes it's because my child has been pulled into other classes for testing or to relearn a subject and the teacher taking attendance doesn't think it's important to care if the students are even there or not. Sometimes my child is marked absent because the teachers have no control of the kids in the class and quiet kids like mine can't battle the dysfunction to be 'seen' by the teacher. When I think back to my middle school years with fondness, it breaks my heart to think of the thousands of kids that had to attend Sun Ridge to just keep their heads down and survive through the dysfunction enough to try to leave it behind as soon as possible.

This school is terrible. Because many of the students aren't mixed or have a bunch of different ethnic races there is a bunch of racism and fights often start. I was lucky to not have bad teachers and many teachers I've got were nice such as Mrs Randazzo, Mrs Westerman, Coach Rios, etc.

the school is decent it depends on your teachers mostly. Also, the kids are decent not the school's fault. 8TH-GRADE BATHROOMS ARE DISGUSTING!

Overall horrible experience with the school and orange county. They do not accommodate with IEP, they say they cannot afford it. I have been to previous schools in different states that are low funded and they have no issue getting a few co taught teachers and IEP case managers. Having schools in an entire county system is horrible. It needs to be by city and not county. Worst system I have experience.

It is a decent school. But it is not the best and has way more bad things than good things.

I do not really like this school. All of the kids there are nasty and the teachers DEFINITELY pick favorites. They expect us all to act like adults and we are middle schoolers, and the deen is horrible. Some kid pulled my hair on purpose and did nothing about it! The bathrooms are very dirty and some staff are very rude for example my mom came to pick me up for a emergency orthodontist appointment at 3:00 and the lady said well they really don’t want me pulling her out of class so I would rather you not. She was very rude to my mom and the teachers just teach a “lesson” for 15 minutes and then give us a test. Definitely don’t know what they are doing in my opinion.

This has not been a positive experience for my children in middle school. We had originally purchased our house in the area due to the quality of school rating. How it started and where it has progressed in the last 4 years has not been in a positive direction.

Pros: does prevent from fights occuring on campus, does deal with disrespect, but is poorly at that. Cons: The disrepect is atrotious at this school, when students always making fun of each other and their race, gender, their weight, their looks, and much, much more. The majority of teachers do poorly at their job at properly teaching us, especially since alot of them just give us homework and worksheets while they sit at their desk not explaining how to answer the questions on their phones. This school is filled with racism as so many hispanics and black students disrespected and get the spotlight of bullying. I personally know so many hispanics who have been harassed and bullied so much in this school alone, including myself, that get psychological issues from this school. This can lead to having to go to this school the most dreadful and most devistating event anyone has to go to. I am a 7th grader in this school and ive been here for almost 2 years now, and these past 2 years have been the worst years in my lifetime. I am hispanic and I do get the spotlight to bullying and harassment, and I have psychological issues. These issues include but are not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Suicidal thoughts, and much, much more that could happen to YOUR child if he attends to this school. Overall, this school is atrocious and this school should have much more money spent to make this education better for everyone here, ABSOLUTLY DO NOT MOVE HERE IF THE TEST SCORES LOOK GREAT, AS SOME OF THE PRICES NEARBY TO THE SCHOOL GOES TO THE MILLIONS, AND GET DECENT EDUCATION. I hope you do not bring your child to this school as it is one of the worst schools you can bring your child to in this area of Florida.

My son beengoingto this school for a year. When you need to talked to the principal is a problem! When you have to supply docs for the school. School complaints that they never received. The school ever requested my so old school records and places him in classes that he shouldn't be in. Son failed classes, I have asked the school over ten time to changed classes never did. The school is not an A, I don't know how or what they did to get it! I'm planning to move my son maybe ever leave the Florida. Florida is the number one worst schools in the US and now I believe it! Sunridge middle is not where you want your kids to go to!

Teachers are great with students but when it comes to deans and admins that is a different story. They like to over reach their power as teachers. They like to suspend students because of things that happen outside of school. They also like to violate policy when it comes to suspension by giving two referrals with suspensions that total more than 10 days for ese students with out having a hearing. They also like to search students phones. They also accuse people of violations before they have even made an investigation. Overall this school is terrible I spent more time in ISS ASP and OSS than I spent in school for things I didn't do. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL! Don't say I didn't warn you.

The communication at this school and OCPS in general is not good. There are a small handful of teachers and administrators that care but most for the most part the staff follow there contract which is 9am till 4pm and that is that. Trying to phone and email teachers and or administrators is a very challenging experience. Not pleased at all~

I go to this school. They like to suppress what happens at this school by violating constitutional rights. For example once they search through my phone without my permission (This included my camera roll.) If something does get out they find they student then suspend them for a whole month without a hearing. one the Deans at that school does not even have a degree in teaching. Also if you want to refuse to snitch on your friend you surely will receive a punishment.
