Upon moving here, my children entered as their feeder school. My kindergartner was put in a class with a child that had special needs. Everyday he came home with marks on him. After months of this I got tired of it and asked if he could change classrooms. The principal did oblige and he ended up thriving with his new teacher and didn’t come home with marks on him anymore. My fourth grader had a horrible experience. We went from a school that had a high conflict resolution in place, and kids didn’t really bully each other because of it. The 4th/5th graders in this school (at least my sons class) were pretty aggressive. I witnessed two fights standing outside waiting to be let in on our first day. I also saw kids pushing each other to get in school first, multiple kids fell on the floor and I literally watched the principal walk by and not do anything. It definitely felt like my kids were thrown into a scary situation. My 4th grader was punched several times by classmates and stabbed in the arm after being pinned by another classmate. On top of that my sons MAP scores dropped significantly. I don’t feel that the school is properly staffed to be able to do a whole lot about anything. Good teachers are leaving for better schools. Kids are out of control. I contacted the superintendent and the school board early into our year here. I received no response from the super about bullying. The school board had mostly out of touch answers such as brandywine school district has a 0 tolerance for bullying etc. when the super finally got back to me he stated the wrong school in his email which showed to me he didn’t even bother reading my email. I don’t place some blame on this school because I do see failures at many levels within the district.

Terrible. Majority of the school are inner city kids who choice in. Unless your children are in the gifted program be prepared for a very rough atmosphere especially in 4th/5th grades. Fights and bullying are a normal occurrence yet the principal states how proud he is of his wonderful school? Gifted program students live in a safe bubble and the rest of the kids are just left to the wolves!

Not adequately prepared to deal with more emotional children. Most of the students who succeed did so due to self-studying and not teachers input.

I can't say enough positive things about Mt. Pleasant. The teachers are superb, the administration proactive and accessible, and an overall positive moral and sense of community is felt the second you walk into the building. The PTA is truly amazing at fundraising and organizing exciting family activities in and around the school. I couldn't be happier that my child attends this school. I know she is in great hands!

All 3 of my kids have been to this school with the youngest one now in 2nd grade. This school has such a great community atmosphere. The administration is organized and approachable. The teachers truly care about each individual child, seeking to meet their unique learning needs. The PTA is a very dedicated group, organizing not only fundraisers, but awesome activities for the entire school community. Love MPE!

This is my 11th year of being part of the MPE family. My last child is in their last year and I will miss being part of that family! The staff at MPE is caring, nurturing, kind, tough, consistent, and a pleasure to work with. From the teachers, to the specialists, to the office and custodial staff, they all are invested in taking care of our children. I have had kids in the gifted program and kids that are not. All of them received an excellent learning experience. Enrichments to classes were provided if needed and I always felt connected as a parent. I recommend this school all the time to parents. I tell them, just go check it out and see for yourself.

Mt. Pleasant Elementary School is an amazing school. It is such a positive, challenging, fun, stimulating place for kids. The leadership in the school truly prioritizes the needs of the children in every detail of the day and the running of the school. The specials teachers go above and beyond to create an extraordinary experience for the kids, and it is a leading school in the "going green" environmental mission. The PTA is focused, organized and active and has a great support structure in place for the teachers. Everyone works together which is inspiring, and it rubs off on the kids.

Mount Pleasant Elementary is a wonderful school that has both regular education and gifted classrooms. The teachers care for their students and help them all achieve. The administrators work with families to provide the attention needed for students that may need additional help. We've been at this school for the past four years and highly recommend it!

MPE is a great school - caring teachers, supportive staff, and great kids. The teachers really go out of their way to engage and challenge and the kids are all eager to learn. An active PTA makes many things possible at the school.

This is great school. Our child goes to the gifted program here and thoroughly enjoys every day! The curriculum is challenging and kids can advance pretty quick based on their capabilities. The method of teaching is also very different and refereshing. Not recommended if you consider being advanced in reading and math is too geekish! The public school environment is also a greatly enriching experience for all the children. Wish more educated parents chose public schools and gave the future of the country some thought :)

Highly recommend the gifted program. Teachers are energetic to challenge students and provide a healthy competitive environment in a fun way. If you or your children are afraid of ranking and put on challenges, this is not the right place. Period. Gifted program is not for every child and parent, but more for a ready mind. Don't blame school.
