Our son struggles with severe social anxiety and school refusal. We had the opportunity to pick from different alternative schools and choose The Learning House because of the year-round concept and their summer program. Having a dedicated therapist on staff for him that he was able to connect with on a regular basis was very helpful. He flourished in his academics with the mastery approach program. He loved the sports program. My husband and I found the parent sessions reassuring and helpful to talk with other parents. I want to add that they did not “cure” my son of his anxiety but helped him learn to cope. The school was the right place at the right time. He graduated with honors and was accepted to college.

I was there for one day to begin clinical hours for special education. This school is not the place to grow experience. The principal and owner is very pompous and non of the educators are teachers. It's not a healthy environment and doesn't feel welcoming with spirit embodiment of a school. On my first day they are already asking if I would work there after graduation and I was over a year from even graduating. The owner even had the audacity to push the idea I should be there on a more full time schedule to gain experience even though I had to complete 70 hours of clinical experience. In a graduate experience hours are meant to be spread carefully. My thought was, did he even read my university application for clinical work? Clearly not as he knew nothing of my expectations. Yet, after the first day I was dismissed based on atrocious claims that could have been severely damaging to my academic and future career. Fortunately, my university backed me up and found every claim to be confusing and unfounded as they decided to scrub my clinical off my transcript. If you have children needing to be sent to another school this is not the place that embraces a healthy learning environment.

Toxic and unhealthy. Please don’t send your children here- find a different school.

The teachers are excellent and pride themselves on pouring great values into your children. My son has excelled at this school and continues to make great choices -- wish I would have switched him a long time ago!

Horrific! They locked our son in a room, harassed him, yelled at him, and grabbed him around the neck. He finally broke down and they had to call the paramedics. All for not completing his homework.
