My son was pulled from White Oak for many reasons. His IEP was not followed, nor could they even try. Brush Hill in West Spfld or Pathfinder in Palmer to learn a trade are other options. The employees seem miserable, but I would be too. Research other options for your child's sake.

My son who has Dyslexia attended White Oak for two years. We fought tooth and nail to get him into that school and two years later he was at the same reading level he entered. The administration has bullying policies and protocols they do not enforce. The teachers are not experienced, knowledgeable or trained in ANY approach for Dyslexic students opting Instead for "Let's Read" which is a whole word approach which is detrimental to Dyslexic students. There is no adjustment counselor or BCBA on site yet they frequently admit children on the spectrum into White Oak, same with children who have violent behaviors. They are not equipped to handle the children they take and there have been incidents which they sweep under the rug. There is a SEVERE lack of boundaries between staff and students which allows the students to become overly dependent on staff. White Oak looks pretty and they sound like they will deliver, but I promise you - you will be disappointed and your child will suffer. Stay away! Do not fall for the facade.

My child graduated from White Oak School. He attended the school for many years. School for a child with Dyslexia and ADHD is very challenging. I don't know what we would have done without White Oak. He previously was in the public school system, falling more and more behind with each passing year. Then we found White Oak School. The small class sizes, the one-on-one tutorial, and individualized teaching are what he needed. The teachers are absolutely amazing!!! The years at White Oak were not without challenges. Still, they were manageable and had a lot of support and guidance from the teachers and administration. As he got into his High School years and was not behind academically, the challenges were few. He went on to college, receiving a bachelor's degree, and hoping to go on for his master's degree next semester.

White oak is a great school. I highly recommend this school. I went there from 6th grade to 12th grade. The teachers at white oak school taught me the skills necessary to go on to college.

White Oak School is truly a life changing experience both academically and socially. Classes are small, the teachers are highly trained, and the whole environment is so child friendly and flexible. The staff and faculty are professional and responsive and the students were so welcoming. White Oak provides a daily a Tutorial class and Oral Expression class that intensely focuses on language skills and executive functioning skills. Additionally, it is such a beautiful, peaceful campus that encourages each student to feel part of the community. This school is such a gem!

The schools mission statement leads you to believe that they are Primarily a school that teaches children with language-based disabilities. That is not what I found to be true at all . I witnessed that the majority of their students seem to have substantial emotional needs that they are not equipped to handle. They also have and extreme large population of children that have autism. I do not believe they are equipped to handle either. It was a very negative experience there. Very very unprofessional teachers and staff. The new headmaster does not seem to be at all knowledgeable and academics. Her previous position was dean of academics which surprises me. She’s never been able to Answer an academic question. She dances around anything you ask her academically and will have to get back to you which never happens. It is bizarre. Very unhealthy atmosphere for children seeking a school that caters to Language-based disabilities such as dyslexia. Parents are not made to feel welcome to discuss their child’s academics or any issues whatsoever with the school staff. Stay away.

My child has been here for 2 years and has advanced 2 grade levels in reading. Still a long way to go but we're very pleased with this start. I find the community of teachers and students very positive and supportive. I think the leadership is actually very responsive and works extremely well with families who are engaged in the process with their child. The community puts a lot of emphasis on respect and kindness.

White Oak School in Westfield, MA. This is a great school. The teachers are amazing, they excel at handling very difficult students with a broad range of learning disabilities. My son was angry, hurt, and had fallen through the cracks at other schools, he recently graduated from White Oak and is in college. White Oak saved him literally from suicide. I find it amazing that there are those who are critical about the achievements of this school. I know hundreds of kids that they have helped.

I would not send my dog here, they call them selfs a college prep school, no text books given to students, the tuition is almost 38000.00 and a student gets copies of work on paper what kind of college prep is this, a half fast sports program through a rec department, what are people paying for the students have no chance at a sports scholarship and don't even graduate at grade level, I would love to hear from students that went off to college and how far and the difficulties they had in college after leaving White Oak. The principle must be able to afford expensive suits with the money he receives, because the tuition money certainly is not going towards the students education, how sad is this compare to a public school White Oak is no better!! Need I say more!!
