We have 5 children who all attend Westfield and it is just tremendous. School leadership is responsive and care about your child’s wellbeing and their future. All of the complaints I see from other parents are nothing we experienced and couldn’t be more pleased with the entire school system. To all those who complain, maybe it is not the school and you are the issue.

This school is great if you are neurotypical and have the personality of skim milk. I was diagnosed as autistic and they just chose not to honor that diagnosis. After fighting for an IEP since 6th grade, they finally gave me one just to tell me that the solution to my executive functioning issues was to JUST TRY HARDER. Not to mention, people trying to give me new tics (I have Tourette's Syndrome) was treated by being told to ignore it. When they tried to get me to tic a song with a homophobic slur in it, the teacher responded "boys will be boys". I've had similar expirences at other schools in the district too. The counclers try and are genuinly nice but when one of the vice principal calls your sister stupid ("I guess you're not as smart as you think you are") it's a lost cause. Go here if you are neurotypical, straight, cis, white, and enjoy being gaslit into the sentiment that "every student matters" and "every rock valued". If you aren't, good luck. Not to mention that every new science room has 2 televisions that are completely useless because the wifi is made out of gerbils. The school seems to do just enough to seem like everything is fine which just makes anyone not doing well feel like there's something wrong with them. With the amount of mental health issues you or your child will have after leaving this school, my advice, you're better off just getting a GED.

Westfield High School is overpopulated and badly managed. For the 2018 year, they decided to do a huge building project to make an already too big school even bigger. The problem is they have cut off half of the parking and 90% of the ways to get there to drop off your student. The Westfield Police Dept. are doing a terrible job of directing the traffic and there is one point of entry to drop off your child and it's ran horribly. A police officer today demanded that my daughter exit my vehicle 100 yards farther than normal in the rain and she is about 90lbs and has to carry an already too heavy backpack because the school is so big that she'd rather carry all her books with her then deal with the densely populated hallways and risk being late to make it to her locker! I am a divorced parent and have my daughter half of the time, we drive 40 miles to get her to school on my days. We now have to leave a half hour earlier than we already did and even if we left an hour earlier there is no guarantee you will make it on time as we sat at a 4 way stop waiting to turn left to get to the only entrance they will allow now because a Westfield Policeman didn't let our lane move for 25 minutes today. This place is a nightmare and you are just a number there and the vast majority of people drop there kids off at this school as it is a privileged community and the police are rude and bullies that seek revenue instead of law in order in everything they do.

I was a quiet, reserved student in high school. I didnt make friends easily and was very reserved at first. Awesome experiences with teachers and coaches (no I was not a star player, just a manager) really helped me come out of my shell and made school much more enjoyable. I made good grades, but circumstances made school increasingly difficult for me. Thanks to some very hand-on, Craig teachers I was able to save and improve my gpa, finish with a dual honors diploma, and get into to the college program I wished for. I am forever grateful I was able to attend Westfield High School.

If you grew up in Westfield, and your parents went to Westfield, then this school is probably great. A vast majority of the students attending are local and have lived there their whole lives. I was surprised by this when we moved here. With all the growth in population and housing, I would have thought the school would have a good inclusion program for new students, but they do not. The school is like a huge small town school with cliques. Your kid play sports? Forget getting a fair shot here. Teams are already established before tryouts. If your child is young (below grade 7), then there is hope that they can get included socially, but do not send your kid to this school if they are in high school.

I had a great time here and learned a lot, I'm not sure what these parents are talking about, there were plenty od challenging courses, ACP, AP, Foreign language, Engineering and Accounting and business are just a few of them. AP psychology here made me realise i wanted to be a psychologist. the simple truth of the matter is how much you get out depends on how much you put in. all the courses mentioned above are optional for the ordinary core 40 and we even have programs with the bigger indy schools for people who know they want to work in the automotive industry or cosmetology or other programs.

As an alumni of this school system, as well as having students who have attended here, I can truly say that there has been a decline in education in this system. From the counseling department, the dean, the principal, as well as several members of the school board, have decided that if a child is having issues academically and whose test scores arent up to par, they much rather push these children out of the school system, into an "alternative" school or just allow them to drop out all together. "Attitude reflects leadership", and I truly hope this school system actively listens to what students, parents, and even some teachers have stressed which is that this school system and its education has declined and do what it takes to become great again.

I am not impressed so far. We are incoming into the school system, and I had a feeling there would be major glitches the first day of classes and I was right. My daughter couldn't access the computer system. I tried to get them to make sure she could a few days before school started, got an attitude that I should mind my own business, and on day one she couldn't and no one gave her the required sign on information for homework access. I put lunch money in her account weeks ago, she was supposed to get a temp id card in first homeroom (per the principal at orientation day) to swipe to eat. you guessed it, she went hungry and got a huge headache. No forms to be found in the office for her to carry her inhaler and the nurse left early. No one in the office knew where to get the form. My daughter asked me what if she has an asthma attack the first day. I said I guess they will have to call the ambulance and hope you are ok or they will get sued for not giving parents access to their required form. They put off doing her schedule, now she is a soph in classes with alot of fresh. Terrible since they knew she was coming to the school as a new student since June. Not impressed at all.

Westfield is not for everyone. It is right for me, and others similar. I have had anger issues, and problems getting along with others for a long time, but Westfield has always worked with my parents and me to help do what is right. Parents with kids who have developmental issues or social issues need not to fear sending their kids to Westfield. They will work with your child and can even make special allowances for you child. Kids I talk to like Westfield because they got rid of many cliques and power struggles on the student body, now it is a matter of what grades you keep and how you act, not who you are around that is judged. I love goin to Westfield.

Teaching and admin staff below par, at best. I am appalled at the quality of teaching, or lack there of, that my children are receiving at Westfield. A teacher on their I-phone everyday, all day...Watching you tube videos as the main source of instruction...Discussing religious views of the instructor that states,"it's the only view that is correct." I am so thankful that my children have had the opportunity to attend other schools across the nation where the main source of instruction is the teacher, a positive and encouraging role model. Unfortunately, at Westfield they are extremely rare.

I graduated in 2010 and loved my time at Westfield! Highschool has ups and downs but we were provided with great opportunities. I'm currently a junior at Ball State University and I can happily say that Westfield adequately prepared me college. The teachers and other staff really care about the students. Not every kid is lucky enough to attend such a great school system.

I see all of these parents reviewing it. Well you may have gone through this school in what the 80's? I am a Jr. Here and have hated it all 3 years. The staff will take a problem such as throwing a piece of paper into the trash can from 5 feet away to a dean referral. And then when you get there they spent 4min talking to you and give you a harsh punishment. They do one instill respect, or values in you but hate, and fear. I would never recommend this school to anyone that wants a remotely good academic career, for a fact i am transferring my senior year to Options. Awful.

I am a current junior at this school and i have to say, the teachers are horrible. there are some good. but as a whole, the staff just dosent seem to care about the students. they only care about test scores and their image and standing as a wonderful school for academics. but other than that? my experiences here have been deplorable and will be attending North Central high school next year. i hate Westfield. its a cold, fake, stepford, carmel wanabe, of a place and i will not miss it.
