Wells Elementary School is truly one of the best in the entire state of Maine. The newer construction building boasts offerings that most schools thrive to have. Two stories, expansive gym, cafeteria and library areas offer ample amount of space for learning, presenting and educating young minds. The staff is a mix of "forever" teachers and the younger generation. It is a fun environment to be a part of, for sure. The playground is situated just to the side of the school and has hand painted art, a US map mural as well as dedicated bench the children can sit and relax under the trees. As for safety, this school rates higher than most. A full-time SRO patrols the school grounds as well as cameras throughout every inch of the building. Teachers and staff are well equipped with radios and electronic communications to be in constant contact with the SRO, principal and office at all times. Each classroom has their own "vibe" and each teacher truly expresses that with the expansive and limitless decorations, creative work spaces and seating options. You will not walk in to a similar looking classroom or room in WES. The administration at WES is well above average. A rockstar principal whom is seen outside during morning and afternoon drop off/pick up, a vice principal who is active with every day learning and a front office staff who can rattle off your children's name, DOB and address at the drop of a hat. Wells Elementary School has top of the line laptops for each and every child. The children are exposed to technology right from the start. The SpecialEd program, also known as BRIDGES is top of the line. The teachers and special educators go above and beyond to tailor each students day to meet their own needs. This goes without saying that the guidance, as well as IEP team is flawless. If you're looking for a district who cares about your child, will push them to be their own and celebrate their accomplishments whether big or small - Wells Elementary is for you.

I have one mainstream student and one who has needed to access special education and both students have done very well here. The staff goes above and beyond to be supportive and friendly. The facilities are beautiful, and the community is very close. I am thankful every day that my children are getting their start here.

My family loves WES. The administration is exactly what every parent hopes for, approachable, involved, dedicated, experienced and caring. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the principal sitting. He can be found in the hallways and classrooms interacting with students, staff and volunteers. Our teachers are so passionate and committed to our community. We moved from another district where my son was struggling academically. We had rang the alarm many times that it seemed he needed extra help and we were denied after long grueling assessment processes. At WES my son has received small group assistance in all subjects without having to ask or apply. He has improved so significantly that he no longer needs extra help and is learning at grade level. But most importantly, he has gained a love of learning and that has made all the difference. We feel so fortunate for all of the phenomenal staff at WES.

I have 3 children in the schools, one in each and they have grown up here. Great schools and community.
