The change in this school is amazing! The new principal is fantastic. Problems with students are being addressed much more effectively. Parents' concerns are being addressed. There are still some problem students and a couple teachers that need improvement, but overall they are becoming a great school.

My three children attend Weed Elementary School. Having moved from a much larger city, the attention paid to individual student learning is both refreshing and beneficial. The staff I have come into contact with has been professional, passionate and respectful regardless of gender, race or socioeconomic status. Keep up the great work!

A great place to send your kids if you need an opportunity center/daycare. All kids are winners, whether you behave poorly or not, trips to the movies and public pool/water park. That's not to say there aren't some good opportunities, but I can think of several times my kids' classes have had to stay behind because they just can't control the kids. There is a disaplin policy that is NOT in effect. There are meals provided for all times of the day including snack. There are some really great teachers who are being pushed to the breaking point with no help from the principle. There are school rules that apply to teachers and students alike, those rules are followed when it's convenient. Concerns of the teachers and students are politely ignored and brushed aside, unless there is glory involved. The principle is more concerned with how the school is perceived and not offending parents so that her school has a better student count than neighbouring schools. Bullying is rampant, and when it was addressed the principle was afraid to cause a scene with the parents of the offender and in other cases it was easier for theme to feed them popcorn and give them a electronic device because the home of the offender was worse than any punishment. In one case, four families (about to be five) have left the school, due in part to a particular individual. I believe this school has great teachers and leadership with the potential to change "the culture" but until the leadership gets the focus back on teacher relations/support and student achievement/disapline they are, at best, destined to keep cranking out mediocre kids with no hope for securing a positive future. The system is already designed to fail by the state/government, coupled with the poor social economic statis of the town, the leadership better think outside the box if they want to get engaged motivated families to attend and find a way to motivate students to want to succeed.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. My child is special ed with classroom integration. He was failed last year because the 5th grade teacher did not want him in her class. I had to fight to get him advanced. I cannot call the teacher, only e-mail her with her choice of whether to call you back. I get very little if any reports on progress and my son does not even get a report card because he is classified as special ed so I have no idea how well he is doing or where he needs improvement. Avoid this school if you possibly can.

Teachers at this school are dedicated to their students. They face challenges every day with fortitude and creativity. They work hard to make sure every student has an opportunity for success. I am proud to work at this school and be a member of their awesome community.

My Grandson entered Kindergarten last year with (very) minimal reading skills even though his mom has read to him nightly since he was a toddler. Today he is in 1st. grade and his reading skills amaze me! I was told he reads at 3rd grade level. I must give the credit to his kindergarten teacher who taught him the basics. I am very pleased with the education he is receiving. Also, I might add, that I visit the school Cafeteria once a week and it is kept immaculate (which is important to me). Kudos to the staff and Jack the Maintenance man.

"Horrid staff training absolutely Horrid! " In other words, your 8 year old is a rude, disrespectful, brat and you are blaming the school for it. What a great parent you must be.
