We love Rumsey Hall School! The school is engaging for all ages - inside and outside of the classroom, on the playing field or on the stage. There are so many amazing opportunities and amazing faculty and staff.

My daughter just finished her pre-k year and had an amazing experience. Her teachers were wonderful and she made terrific friends. They utilize the 23-acre campus extensively and she can't wait for the new year to begin!

Rumsey is a mediocre school for mediocre to poor students with a lot of money to waste/ privilege. Many new families joined the lower school this year in the pandemic shift and 90%+ were extremely disappointed in the academic standards, even when comparing to overcrowded public schools. Specifically, the lower school writing curriculum is very weak compared to common core or public schools. Children are not given writing assignments and the editing method is not evident in curriculum/ work.Math is similarly very weak, not much homework or drilling on basics. Reading is not leveled at all, reading skills while supposedly supported by the school, are not put into place in the curriculum with vocabulary, spelling, or reading groups. It's interesting no standardized scores are published anywhere for Rumsey - if they were I would expect to see them be far below a decent public school district and definitely below solid private schools elsewhere. Do not trust admissions, there is no differentiated learning at all no matter what they tell you.Overall the school would benefit from a complete overhaul of the administration with REAL educators who have degrees and focus on curriculum and academics rather than spending money on another drone video of the campus or wasting money on snow machines. Also - horrible food, cannot imagine what parent would want their children to be fed junk food like potato chips and sweets. Any decent school should have a zero junk food policy, instead parents have to fight the administration or do things like ask for vegan only to avoid the tremendous amount of unhealthy food served daily. There also is a heavy skew towards boys, this was not helped over the past year and instead more boys were admitted making classes even more lopsided - again another cover up in admissions that was untruthful.

Rumsey is the home away from home where my sons have grown intellectually, discovered their affinities in the arts and athletics and expanded their social network from our neighborhood to around the world. Classes are challenging and students learn how to study in preparation for a rigorous high school experience. The faculty are kind, approachable and super caring.

Sent our daughter here for a year after being dissatisfied with our local public school. We were not at all made to feel welcome. Also, my daughter is a soccer player (made varsity freshman year in high school) and despite having the skills and athleticism to make varsity she was not even a starter on their varsity B. None of the girls were. We found this to be sexist. There is not even a varsity girls team, only a boys. Also, the "win at all costs" attitude seemed to be too much for this age. When a team beat ours, the next time we played them we brought starters from varsity. Winning is not the only thing in the world!

Amazing school! I have a child with ADD, and school has always been tough for him. But, this year we decided to send him here. Such an improvement! They offer great structure for him and help him shape who he wants to be. Also, the athletic and arts programs are amazing. He has become very confident in himself, making varsity sports and doing much better in school. Thank you Rumsey Hall!
