I have been a parent at this elementary school for 3 years now and I must say that the experience that my child has at this school is beyond expectations. All of the kids at school are well-mannered and promote a safe and fun environment to be in. Never once, has my child said they didn't want to go to school! The facilities, programs, staff, teachers and principal are all top-notch. That's saying a lot for being a school within the very competitive WVUSD school district. Westhoff truly is the Best in the West!

I am disappointed with Westhoff Elementary School. This school is disorganized, full of lazy and rude staff, and excessive emphasis on donations. See for yourself. Visit this school during grade 1 to 5 pick up time. Children crowd unsafely around the side walk. Several times, I almost got pushed out to the on coming traffic in the parking lot. Teachers just stand around for observation. They should be actively directing children and traffic. At the main entrance, there are excessive amount of posters and charts showing their donation campaign. Teachers should spend more time on academics than donations. Westhoff also allows too many vendors to distribute advertisements. I get too many advertisement flyers and emails from after school programs. This school should be running sports, arts, music, computer, tutoring classes instead of asking parents to send their children to these expensive programs.

I've been at this school with two kids for a total of 14 years. The teachers, Principal and staff have always been a pleasure and really go above and beyond. New and old teachers care about the kids and their learning, not just academically, but social emotional learning as well. The culture at the school is wonderful. My kids have always excelled in their grades and state test scores, exceeds always. My kids are not in any after school programs besides sports. When my youngest was in kindergarten, he was falling behind. They put him in an intervention program to help him catch up. By the time he started 1st grade, he was testing AR reading levels for 3rd grade. My oldest was always at an AR reading level 3-4 grades above. The teachers really do care. I just had a conversation today with another parent that transferred in her child with disabilities. She said the support her child has received was bar none compared to their prior school.

Unfortunately as much as I wanted to like this school. I feel disappointed. My daughter went there for two years. But I noticed a pattern. Teachers there.... when dealt with a child that needs help. Instead of supporting them. They naturally want to hand the problem off to another person. It just feels disappointing that you are felt that it’s your burden. To the parents considering this school. I wouldn’t recommend. Your child won’t get the support. There are other good schools in the same district.

I love this school, I can not in justice say this school has quality teachers. Just like the other review said, "Luck of the draw" If you have a teacher who has a infant or a grade school child, you are in for NO HOMEWORK!! Teachers with small kids themselves, dont want to go home and grade or stay after school to talk with parents. The parents are great, if you like rich, Chinese parents who are so "proud" they are in Westhoff.

We love all the teachers there except one. The school is over the top. 4th grade Kids fly to Sacramento for a field trip. Parents are a bit snobbish and cliquish! But if your kids are in for good education, you go there and ignore the rest!

The teachers in this school is like a luck of the draw! VERY TENSE! Not friendly from class to class, teacher to teacher. I don't like the way this school introduce common core curriculum, it becomes parents'/tutors' responsibility to mentor the new material... kids are like guinnea pigs!
