If a student misses a day, you would think the teachers would talk about what they missed, not give them homework and expect them to know how to do it. Also punishing the student for being late is ridiculous. If the parent of that student cant carpool the student because of work, and the student misses the bus then becomes late, that does not mean punish the student. Bullying is something that rarely happens. There are more fights than bullies. The teachers let special ed students almost get away with murder. I do not think its fair that they can interrupt class because they don't have a sharp pencil. Most of the teachers are very impatient. At the beginning of the year (if you take P.E) you do absolutely nothing for the whole hour, you cant talk, and all you can do is sit still and wait until the hour is over. I hated being separated from the boys only because most of my few friends were boys. Though i understand why they did it, i just dont like it. I think its absurd that you have to pay for a water bottle. The school milk is disgusting and makes some students sick. You have to get a doctor's note, which means you have to be late for school. The band teachers are so amazing. They are able to explain in such a simple way how to do things. They are the opposite of the majority of the teachers. I do not agree that students have to dress out for P.E. I feel its unfair for students who have body issues or just dont want to change in front of others. Also the locker rooms smell as if something died and then died again. Testing on computers was frustrating. We were kicked out of our classes our schedules were changed, unfortunately i had to be in the football locker room. The air system in there was terrible. It was incredibly hot. Westside is not exactly the best side. <3

Two of my sons have attended Westside. My boys have only experienced the atypical junior high drama. I hear a lot of comments about bullying. Both of my boys have stated that usually the ones crying out are causing issues in their own right (disrespectful to teachers, other students or getting pay back for the bullying they do). So, I wouldn't take much merit into these remarks. The athletics program (basketball and football) are great, wonderful coaches. The principals are reasonable yet strict, a good combination. They have fantastic, very kind and caring teachers. My only complaint is with the Parish and not the school. It is very dilapidated and needs lots of work as does the Freshman and High School. We have a lot of money coming into the parish now from sales taxes at Juban Crossing. Our schools need funds directed to them as well as the funding going to "grow" out parish.

this school does NOT protect their students from bullies. This school district has disrespectable students that have no respect for authority. My daughter had perfume sprayed on her in class and on the bus and was picked on to the point she had a panic attack and inhalation damage from the perfume. Horrible school AVOID this school.
