0 principal, office staff, and one of the car drop off aides are rude and treat my children and myself awful. They glare and roll their eyes if you come into the office. And act like you are a huge inconvenience.

2 at most and that's being generous. If it wasnt for the compassion from his teacher and her amazing communication skills I would give a 0.

The highest rating available. I have been a parent to 5 children and now have grandchildren attending this elementary school. Education is constantly evolving (and it's amazing to watch the knowledge develop in the small people's brains). The common values of mutual respect for each other and good manners to all are the things that haven't changed. Growing, learning, safety, and fun are in abundance at Walker, Elementary.

The principal is a bully herself and bullies teachers, parents, & students.

I would say most of my experiences with the school have been great. There was one instance in which I did not feel like he was learning effectively and the assistant principal and teacher corrected this problem upon my discussions with them.

I feel that the principal does an excellent job at this school. Since she became principal there is discipline, structure, organization, and an aesthetically pleasing environment. I always see the principal being a professional with students and teachers alike. Although she can lots of work on her plate, she somehow finds the time to greet teachers and children in a friendly manner. She always manages to make me feel welcome and that she is glad I'm there. She and the Vice Principal have always treated me with respect and go the extra mile to help me feel valued and respected. The administration is goal- oriented, have high standards for themselves as well as teachers and students, and demonstrate a positive attitude about the future. Walker Elementary is a beautiful campus with lovely roses lining the sidewalks, paintings of wildcats and cute animal murals on walls, benches, larger play areas at recess for students, and a clean environment. Overall, it feels like a family atmosphere to me.

We are new to the district and my child just started Walker Elem. At first, I had concerns with this school based on some reviews but see now that they are bogus. We love this school! It is a great little community school with such caring individuals. My little one was having a hard time transitioning and they were so good with him! They called and let me know his progress, checked on him for me, and really eased my mind. He loves it now and can't wait to get out the car in the mornings. The Assistant Principal is always smiling and friendly, getting him out the car. The principal even called to let me know how much of an improvement he was making. He adores his teacher and can't wait to tell me about his friends and his day. I feel so blessed to be able to send my child here, they have been wonderful!

This school is a wonderful school to send your child to. I know every day that when I drop my child off, he's getting the best education possible in a very safe environment. I am more than pleased with Walker Elementary, from the teachers to the principal. This school is A+.

This school is AMAZING to work at. You don't know the meaning of a horrible school until you've worked at some of the surrounding parish's schools. This school is one of the safest schools I've been in. The principal makes sure she does everything she can to ensure all of her students get the best education possible, and the new assistant is just as amazing as the principal! I'm never leaving Walker Elementary, unless of course Ms. Cox moves ( which is not happening).

I agree with the posts below . The 'Small Town Politics' in this school are a huge concern of ours and we have dealt with it first hand. The other parents are accurate about reporting issues to the board, it will get you no where and for the reasons listed below. The parents who posted the high ratings obviously never had a disagreement with the principal. Meetings consist of her children and how you should do what she does. Don't even think about disagreeing with her. Her way or the highway. Do yourself a favor and pay for private school or move out of the district.

I have read the post below and would have to disagree with this school being a great place to send ones child. The conversations I have had with other parents have lead me to believe the principal is a poor leader and runs the organization on fear instead of respect. Many of the good teachers are leaving and the ones that currently work for this individual are scared to say anything because of retribution. The principal's husband is on the school board and I suspect this is the reason she is able to conduct unprofessional behavior at her school without any supervision from our school board. My spouse and I are actually considering moving out of the walker area because of the poor management and just feel my children aren't getting the education they need to be successful. While all the other schools in the parish are providing free tutoring sessions for the leap Walker Elementary did not and she fights allowing certain accommodations for children. When they are given she takes them away as soon as the child begins to do well. Things really need to change, state should really look into this school. We are looking at homes in Watson and just disgusted at the schoolboard for allowing

My daughter has been going to this school for the past three years and no one at that school knows what the heck they are doing. Everyone is the office is extremely rude and uncaring. Last year my daughter's bus got suck in the mud and instead of calling the parents, they waiting until parents started calling the school. It took another mother and I over an hour to reach someone and then when we finally got an answer, all we heard was "if this is about blue bus, call transportation. " then they hung up on us. Talk about unprofessional. I am removing my daughter from this school at the end of this school year and I urge other parents to reconsider sending their children to this nightmare that barely passes for a center of education.

My Children went to Walker Elementary School and Graduated in the Walker School District. I have an adopted child that also goes to WES (K-5). She is on her fifth year. Throughout the years WES has held the highest standards for my child. The Principle, Secretaries, Teachers and Faculty are all wonderful and dedicated to your child. I could not ask for a better school and sad that this is the last school year that my child will attend Walker Elementary. Each one of the Faculty knows every child by their name. They treat the children like family; help in any way possible to teach all children, and prepare them for the next grade level. Walker Elementary School gives your child a wonderful foundation coupled with good work and social ethics to move forward with their education. The only thing I can say is teaching begins at home, parenting your child is a vital part of your child s success. Honestly one of the best schools in the parish. I couldn t have asked for a better experience during all the years that my children have attended Walker Elementary School.

You can not place your child at a better school! The principal is awesome and my children academic performance has sky rocketed. Not only are scores through the roof but the school environment is a dream. The school is very decorated and clean. It has a warm and friendly environment and they truly care about my children. My children love this school and we would not want them anywhere else. We hear things at the ball field and other schools do not even compare to this school's scores, teachers, principal, and the school's nice appearance. If you are looking for a school that cares about every child then this is your school. The principal has made a huge impact at this school and she has our support!

Amazing faculty and staff! My child attends Walker Elem. and I am very pleased. The teachers strive to help your child learn and are willing to work with them if they are struggling. The new principal is firm but fair and I appreciate that. I know my child is in a safe learning environment while I am away at work. It has been a very positive experience and I would recommend this school to any parent.

This school has declined severely in the last several years, in many different areas. I know their test scores have gone up but it takes more than that to run a decent school in our opinion. We would not recommend this school.
