I would recommend Core to anyone parent in the school district. With a small class size threw 8th grade, it has a strong sense of community.

Our children attended Core Knowledge for 5 years and we had mixed experiences. The vast majority of the teachers were outstanding and deeply dedicated to the success of the students. We also appreciated the opportunity and expectation to be involved in the operation of the school and the leadership provided by other parents. Our daughter did very well in this environment but our son struggled with the rigidity of the curriculum. He is more of a nonlinear, creative thinker and this was stifled. The real downside with this school is the lack of leadership at the top. The principal refused to deal with a challenge our son had with another student, hiding behind the "lack of a policy" that covered the situation. Staff were apologetic for his indecisiveness, indicating that he was young and new to the position and that he would "get it" soon. The lack of respect of the staff for the principal was apparent. Unfortunately our son no longer feels safe in the school and dreads going back so we feel it's best to change schools. For the vast majority of students CKCS is wonderful, but if you have problems don't expect help from the leadership.

It has been a wonderful experience for our daughter and us as a family. She has excelled in many ways, academically as well as all round development . Amazing teachers, great leadership and great amount of parent involvement. CKCS challenges the children with outstanding results.

They have a problem with teacher retention and hiring experienced people. They are also not good at meeting the needs of kids who have special needs or considerations, more of a "one size fits all" policy. They do not address serious behavior issues that are dangerous to other kids in the classroom.

Amazing school. Our son started there in K and we've been exceedingly pleased! Moved to Wisconsin from out of state and simply got lucky with Core Knowledge Charter Schools and Verona. Had we known, we would've planned it like this. Can't ask for better teachers, leadership in excelling or expectation for parental involvement. CKCS challenges the children with outstanding results. It's truly like a family in that it takes a village to raise a child, and all staff take this role seriously.
