I haven’t find any gap about this school to describe negatively though we moved out of school district for our employment. My son still discuss with his friends how the school is important for him. I love this school,ISD and teachers and staff members. We highly recommend this school.

Schroeder Elementary School Troy is an amazing school. The teachers & staff go above & beyond there jobs & truly care for there students. The teachers/staff are very attentive to the needs of all students. Unfortunately my children have been to 4 elementary schools & I am so very impressed with Schroeder idc if I have to struggle 2 make it. I will not take them out of this school.

In reality, this school is "above average" academically, as most of the students have parents who are education-focused and have reasonably high expectations of their children academically. Clearly (and thankfully), the staff doesn't have as hard of a job maintaining high test scores as, say, a principal in Detroit. Therefore, the administration really should have the luxury of focusing on the "extras" that make a suburban school great: character-building, community, citizenship, etc. All of these are lacking, in my opinion. The kids are generally rude and pushy, shoving in the hallways and rarely getting disciplined for disrespecting teachers. This is something the administration could get a hold on, but I find leadership lacking & complacent. By comparison, other neighboring schools really do have better-behaved kids, in my experience. Their principals maintain good citizenship programs and emphasize no-bullying as a school value. Also, there are few "extras" like an annual family dance, spring musical, or talent show. Yes, it's extra work to produce these events, but they generate school spirit and could add a sense of community to Schroeder that I find sorely lacking.

I have rewritten my review of this school bc the longer we attend it, the more impressed (and less critical) I become. We recently moved to MI & were told how great the B ham/Bloomfield schools were. We rented for a school year until we found the right house. I'm so glad we didn't buy a house right away, bc we bought in Troy once we found Schroeder. The test scores exceed those at even the STEM school in B'ham. Every day my child comes home from school challenged. Also, the Troy schools are homier & less uppity than in B'ham. The principal does a solid job & runs a great school, but he can seem rather reserved. (E.G., he doesn't seem like the kind to get hit in the face w/a pie at a pep rally.) The PTO board is pretty strong, but it can seem exclusive of newcomers bc most leaders socialize via a neighborhood athletic club to which 50% of the school does not belong. So the sense of community feels somewhat fractured compared w/other schools we have attended. Still, it's a safe, nurturing environment & academics are fabulous. And that really is the point of school, right? There s no doubt your child will be prepared for middle school when leaving Schroeder.

My son just finished the full day kindergarten at Schroeder and we love it. Mrs. Kress was attentive to my son educational needs and I could tell that she cared about my son and his education. The principal Mr. Canfield is great he knows all of his students and parents. I was shocked the first month of school he saw me in the hallway and knew my name and my son's name too. The little things are so important to me. Schroeder is the best!
