I pulled my child from public school and put them in Heritage Christian. My complaint is not about the kids or the curriculum, both are wonderful, my complaint is the leadership and administration. This is a "Christian" school, but there's very little grace and forgiveness for children. I spent a lot of time there during the school day and I was able to see how things are run. It is very military-like. The children must walk with their hands behind their back and there is zero talking in the hallway. They are asked to sit at their desks a certain way, stand up a certain way, push in their chairs a certain way, very robotic like. They are told God is not pleased when they color outside of the lines, yes this is to kindergarteners. I feel like it takes away from the child being a child and breaks down their spirit. I had such high hopes when I put my child in the school, but from the lack of leadership and the behavior of those in charge. I believe in letting kids be kids within guidelines, but remembering they are kids and make mistakes and need extra grace and love, and we are to train them up. This sort of harsh behavior is what gives Christians a bad name. For the reasons mentioned above, I do not recommend Heritage Christian. There are other private schools in Topeka that offer a great education but let kids be kids.

This place is incredible. The experiences I've had, and the friends I've made, make it exceedingly worth it. Despite the negative reviews of some (I'm not judging as I don't know the situation) This school fantastic. The teachers really get invested into the student's lives, and care for every child. Thank you to all of my Heritage friends and family. -Phillip

This is a great school! My daughter was challenged and loved by her teachers. She made great life-long friends due to the small class size and family atmosphere. She was given a great Christian world view and was definitely prepared to major in premed in college. We love Heritage Christian School!

This is a great school! The teachers love the students and have great love and compassion for their students. Due to the small class size, the students are able to get individual help and really reach their potential. The academics are challenging and have really prepared my daughter for college. The love of God is shown in every aspect of the school. I love having my daughter here! It is a great family atmosphere.

This is not a good school by any means nor do they practice the true teaching of the bible. Yes they teach biblical concepts but do not practice the words of Jesus themselves. Gossip is out of control. Bullying is rampant and sometimes supported by the staff. The athletic director is more about the "alpha dog" than the students. Love and compassion are distant priorities. The worst part is the board members are almost entirely spouses of staff. If there is a problem you have no recourse and can not get a fair hearing. I know many people hurt by this school. Heritage Pharisee would be a more appropriate name

We have had our children at Heritage Christian School for the last 14 years. The school's academics, mission, size, and extra-curricular programs have given our kids a quality education, safety, character, and great friendships. Missing are the distractions, pressures, and liberal influences that keep many children from getting the education they need. Our oldest daughter graduated from HCS, attending from Kindergarten, and found that she was much more prepared for her college courses than many of her peers.
