Both my kids love this school new to us. It was nice to be welcomed into a school where both my kids are able to socialize and find common friends along with given the proper education. My daughter even in the GT program enjoys being taken away from her classroom to do different activities with other students.

2/5 would be my overall rating based on safety issues.

My husband and I were serioulsy considering homeschooling or private school for our child. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was very nevous and decided to ask around personally. Honestley, I was expecting a mixed response, but only recieved extremely positive feedback. We decided to go ahead and enroll her, and I think it was the best decision we could have made. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. The teachers seem to genuinely love the kids. All of the principals were walking around greeting families, which I thought was amazing. The school is very diverse and I can truthfully say that I watched each child treated with the same enthusiasm and respect, so I have no idea where the previous reviews about administration being prejudice came from. In fact, the pricnipal is african american, and the two assistant principals are hispanic and caucasian. There have already been several meeting invites for parents to participate at the school and get inolved. Overall I am thrilled and so thankful we chose Bernshausen.I wanted to come and leave a review because as my husnands says "one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch." I hope that any parent reading this will not take the bad comments to heart and go visit the school themselves. I am so glad I did not let the handful of negative reviews overtake the postitve. We are so happy with the choice we made!

My son was a student in Ms Rangel's class. He enjoyed learning with her and had a wonderful fifth grade. I strongly feel that it is the teachers and the effort from the parents that make a great school. Wonderful teachers at Bernshausen.

Check the zoning areas and neighborhoods being served by the school. Go to the TEA website and look at the percentage of economically disadvantaged students being served. (2014 numbers reflect over 50%) Look at state testing benchmarks and compare to other Klein elementary schools in the area. Based on doing your research, you can draw your own conclusions about if these statistics create an environment you would like to add your child to. Overall we have had decent experiences with staff but that still does not mean we feel it is the best fit for our children.

This school houses the majority of lower socioeconomic children. The principal is extremely defensive of the young inexperienced teaching staff. The principal is unable to be objective of parental concerns. We will not return to this school next year. I would strongly suggest making this a last option. Do your homework.

This school is 2 years old. My son was in 2nd grade when it opened!! This year is the first year it has a special Ed class. My daughter is in kindergarten and is non verbal with severe autism. We moved to Texas July 2013, we live in south Louisiana for over 40 years. The only reason we moved was for my daughter to get a better education. Burnshausen and the special Ed teacher (Mrs. Mosbeck) have gone way above to make sure my daughter is getting everything she needs plus more. We are amazed in what she has learned in only 7 weeks of school. She is using a communication device for the first time. She is starting to social interact. I am truly amazed at how wonderful Burnshausens special Ed is and it just started 7 weeks ago! If you are looking for a school for your child this is the one!! Everyone from the staff, parents and kids are true lay amazing!!

Wow this is a beautiful school. However there are some real issues here with this school. I never seen such prejudice in a school, like this school. I am black, however, the prejudice is with in favor of Class( Rich or Poor). If your a bigger donor you are favored. Your child will be looked down on especially if you are getting government help. Certain staff, I wont mention any names, have real attitudes towards the children. They are real snobs and have fake kind attitudes. At one of our parent meetings last year, the main Principal said something so Bias. Do yourself a favor and move out of this zone, check other schools really well before moving here.

This school is a new school to the community, unfortunately they are the same teachers/ principal formally of Korville, BE cautious of this school, they are quick to judge, especially with a trailer park being located in the school zone. Even though most of us work and have businesses and nice homes. My child dose not attend this school anymore thank God. Also they will judge you quickly if you are of Hispanic race. Be aware of the staff especially. I'll pray for the children of this school. Its horrible.

I don't know what the previous review is talking about--but I personally applaud a staff who documents a potentially violent child. This is exactly what is missing in schools these days and absolutely needs to be a priority in keeping our schools and students safe. Staff leadership down to the teachers are superb. Cannot wait to see what next school year brings. This brand new school is green, technologically advanced, and it's staff is well equipped for today's classroom.

My daughter came from a private school with very small class sizes, so I was very nervous making the switch to public, but her first year went better than I could have imagined! The principal and vice principal are incredible. Always available to answer any questions, and the kids adore them. The teachers took special care to make sure my daughter was not bored, even having her and another student create their own puppet show based on a chapter book they had read as a special assignment (both girls were ahead of the class reading wise.) From the PE coaches, to the cafeteria ladies, I couldn't have picked a better group of people to staff the school. I truly can't say enough good things about Bernshausen!

Great school, great teachers. My child has been to many schools in the area due to re-zoning. This school is one of the best (if not the best) in the district.

Curriculum is good and the staff has great intentions, but disciplinary communication practices need serious revision because they are hazardous to your child's future. Avoid this school if you wish to protect your young child's reputation from overly aggressive documentation policies that are intrinsic to this school, which may harm your child's future even in the earliest of grades now that records are permanent on the internet. I say this because this school will document in writing almost every misstep (no matter how minor) that your young child makes...even create a permanent disciplinary record even if they are as young as 5 years old and damage a table with sharp scissors that the school was reckless enough to let 5-year-olds handle on a regular basis in the first place...so beware because even though the school understands that such written information could be used to harm or smear a child's reputation as a college candidate, employment applicant or political candidate as an adult. They utilize their documentation with little regard for the effect on your child and accuse your child vaguely in writing...many times without reasonable proof of guilt.
