When I entered PS207, it felt like a home. There was a great sense of community. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The classrooms came to life with vibrant colors prominently displaying student work. The principal’s office was welcoming -door wide open and snacks alongside supplies for anyone needing a break or anything else. This environment created by Tara O’Brien was all too familiar. Having worked under her leadership, I know too well, her dedication and commitment to her staff all in the service of her entire school community. Children and education are her passion and her school is a clear reflection of this.

Principal Tara O'Brien, along with the administrative team, is leading change at the school. Teachers are committed to developing culturally relevant curricula and to addressing students' social, emotional and academic learning needs. Students and teachers at 207 are seen, heard and nurtured. In addition, Tara is an innovator, devoted to building the leadership capacity of teachers. Teacher leaders and teachers at 207 have the time and space to work in collaborative inquiry teams where they identify the learning gaps of struggling students, learning gaps that have prevented these students from being successful. The teachers collaborate to intervene and close these gaps. At the end of the year, the teams share their findings and celebrate the growth of the students and the learning of the teacher leaders and team members. I would want my niece and nephew to learn with the teachers and administrators at PS 207.

PS 207 has completely turned around...for the better. They got a new Principal a few years back and she has gone above and beyond to make PS 207 one of the best schools in the Bronx. They have a strong school-wide behavior plan and academics are a top priority for the entire staff. The Principal is always visible and available to parents and students, as well as staff. Great school with great leadership!

I have been a teacher in the community for well over 10 years. Most of my experience has been with 207's students once they left PS 207 at the end of 2nd grade. Since Ms. O'Brien's administration began I started to notice a shift in the attitude and behavior of students. This year I had the pleasure of joining the PS 207 staff and can say in all honesty that students truly love coming into our building. Throughout the year we focus on building their social emotional learning as well as the academic learning. ROCKS values (Respect, Organization, Cooperation, Kindness and Safety) are reinforced throughout everything we do and children have embraced these values in their lives.

The school is headed downhill if the administration continues to worry about school colors and furniture instead of student progress.

Although some of the staff is great including the Vice Principal the school is tremendously disorganized when it comes to communication with the parents. Their Special Needs setup is a joke. his school needs a tremendous reorganization starting with the principal.
