No parent communication, very hard to contact teachers. The director is not able to handle normal toddler behavior in an age appropriate way. The principle Deborah is very defensive and likes to label kids.

My son just graduated pre-K this spring, and he/we loved it. No. 1 is the teachers, they are absolutely the best. My son attended pre-k for two years here, and we never heard any complaints from any of the parents. It just shows how loving and caring the teachers are. The facility is great too as it's a real school (not a daycare, pre-k school, etc.). It's got a gym, cafeteria, music room, small school yard, etc. We'll miss all the teachers there as my son will be attending public kindergarten from this fall. We wish them all the best!

My daughter just graduated from this gem of a school and is going to a very competitive high school. She came to Spring School from a public middle school without confidence and a defeatist attitude. It took two years of concerted effort to spark back her love of learning. She turned from a kid who strongly disliked school while in public school to a kid who did not want to miss a single day while in Spring school. The curriculum is personalized and the class size is small allowing for a lot of individual attention and the teachers truly care about the kids intellectual and emotional wellbeing. My daughter had 3 wonderful years in this school. I only wish that we had come to Spring school earlier and she had more time in this wonderful academic environment and warm tight knit community.

As an alumni of this school, I can confidently say that the education here is outstanding. Regardless of a student's starting point, the curriculum is designed to be advanced and stimulating, ensuring everyone is continuously learning new and challenging material. The small size of the school creates a tight-knit community, fostering close relationships with both peers and teachers. This supportive environment makes it easy to seek help and feel comfortable asking questions. Overall, The Spring School offers an excellent education in a welcoming and supportive setting.

When I enrolled my first born ,a 3 year old , I was not sure how would she like it. I was pleasantly surprised with her loving her school , her teachers, and her classmates in two weeks. She is now a 7 year old and has grown so much both emotionally and academically. Now came along a 22 month old who was not speaking enough words when I introduced him to this school. Within six months , this boy is making progress in leaps and bounds he has not only learned several vocabulary words, but also speaks fluent Spanish words. These teachers are amazing and their love and nurturing has helped my child tremendously and has given me a peace of mind. This school is truly a Montessori school and my children have learnt to do small things like putting toys back in their bins , placing things in their proper place. I see these small changes in them daily.

My children have attended the spring school from pre-school, through the lower school, and now in the upper school. They have grown so much as students and people during their years at Spring. They are nurtured while always being pushed to work hard and learn material that keeps them growing and maturing in their knowledge. They are given the flexibility to pursue their extracurricular passions without having to sacrifice the commitment to learning that we and the Spring School teachers are instilling in them. One of my children as severe anxiety. Spring has been a safe place to deal with that. The teachers are caring and understanding, but they have also built a school culture that encourages those same values among the students. It would be so easy to “make fun” of an anxious kid; instead, in our experience, the students have all done their very best to be caring. As a parent I worried that I would be forced to choose a place that was academically rigorous or that was a nurturing environment for my children. I’m glad to say that I have found the best of both worlds at the Spring School.

My granddaughter is new to the Spring School. When she entered the Stepping Stones program at 18 months old she was timid and hesitant to stay at the school. Within a month, she was walking in dependently waving goodbye with a smile other face. She loves her teachers and she has grown academically and socially! We all love the Spring School and can't wit for her to go back in September!

My daughter graduated from this school a few years ago. I have yet to a find a school I can recommend where a child gets a wholesome experience starting from learning academics, to communication with peers and adults, developing long lasting friendships. We have our daughter grow up as a young adult with so much confidence and kindness to spread which she proudly says she got it from her teachers at The Spring School. We would recommend this school to all wholeheartedly for any age from 2 years to 14 .

My son started at The Spring School in 1st grade and graduated 8th grade last year. The warm atmosphere at school made us feel at ease every morning we dropped him off. The attention teachers paid, at every step along the way, is commendable. Overall, it was seamless to establish strong ties among the students and the class of 2023 remains in touch! My son received a sound and structured elementary and middle school education from the Spring School that has prepared him well to take on the challenges of attending a very competitive high school.

If you're looking to raise a "robot" that can spend 3 hours a day doing homework, this is the place for your child, otherwise STAY AWAY!!No social aspect, no sports.Apart from the literature teacher, all other are just khan academy teachers, i.e. they repeat "advanced" stuff but do not educate.

One thing that stood out to me during the tour was how alive the teachers seemed, like they enjoy what they do and are passionate about it, there wasn’t a sense of burnout like in some of the other private schools. This has held true – our kid loves the teachers, respects them and feels close to them. Our son is in the Upper School. I feel lucky to have found such a unique place – my child is happy, stimulated, bubbling over with info on what they learned today on our way home. He does his work on his own and takes pride in it. I really appreciate how much writing they do, including lengthy essays, and how little of it is on the computer. They do have a computer class teaching them useful basics like Google Suite use etc and are capable of delivering typed and properly formatted assignments. The scope and quality of History is absolutely superb! He comes back home showing me an excerpt from a musical sketch on Cromwell and when asked enthusiastically tells me all about Cromwell. Ditto ancient history, US history etc. Math is also very high quality. In public elementary we had to take extra Advanced Math classes, as the Math was so primitive. The math my kid’s doing now in Spring school exceeds the Advanced Math classes level for the grade he is in. Amazingly, although I wouldn’t say I have a particularly math-loving kid, there is no pushback whatsoever from him – he loves the teacher and breezes through the homework. I really appreciate the school’s approach where math homework answers marked wrong need to be corrected, this mindset of striving for excellence is very positive, constructive and reflected in everything in the school. They care and they are on top of things.Children actually learn Grammar with diagramming sentences and a strong set of Language Art skills. I feel like the school has an excellent mix of respect, simple fair discipline and a happy atmosphere of normal childhood that is so hard to find these days. They’re always playing different games at recess, there is never any drama or ugliness. The communication from the school is to the point, concise and efficient – what joy after getting twenty random public school emails a day about nothing, every day. The teachers are always open to communication, and easy and enjoyable to talk to.The kids are lovely – smart, kind and cooperative. We went to the Regional Bees competition recently and it was so heartwarming to watch our students cheer for each other, hug and support each other!

My child has been in Spring School since K and is now at upper school. Our experiences there are excellent. Both teachers and the administrative really care about each student and pay much attention to individual growth. As a parent of athlete student, I am particularly grateful for the accommodations/flexibility that the school provided. The teachers were always there to help make-ups on missing topics due to sports training/travels. Ms. Debbie and her team were even thoughtful enough to optimize course schedule to minimize such impacts. I cannot think of other places where your kid can achieve excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities especially when both become intense. Highly recommend this school.

Spring school is a small school where everybody knows everybody very well, which builds an environment of respect and collaboration. My daughter is graduating from the Spring School this year. There are ten 8th graders in total. It has been great journey for us as a family with the amazing teachers at the school. My daughter has attention issues and is very forgetful about many of her tasks. It would have been very challenging for us to handle these issues alone, but all the teachers were so cooperative and willing to go the extra mile to help her, giving her multiple chances to fix her mistakes rather than threatening her with punishment or failure. She was always set up for success. She joined the the school when she was a fourth grader from a public school. Spring School has 4 individual conference sessions with parents each year. We could get updates on how my daughter has been doing at shool in detail, and we could collaborate to come up with the solutions so my daughter could achieve better results. I trust all the teachers at the Spring School. Personally I believe that feeling safe at school is the most important matter for students because without the safe environment you can't really learn and flourish. I am elated to share that my daughter's outstanding accomplishments have paved the way for her acceptance into Bergen County Academy. This monumental achievement serves as a testament to the transformative powers of the education she received at the Spring School. In conclusion, our journey with Spring School has been nothing short of extraordinary. The remarkable educators in tandem with the institution's commitment to creating a safe and supportive atmosphere, have played an indipensable role in my daughter's development. I am profoundly grateful for their unwavering dedication and the immeasurable impact they have had on her educational trajectory.

My kids came to The Spring School from a Catholic school. They are being intellectually challenged and learning about the world. I love their comprehensive History and Timeline classes that focus on society and world cultures. It really helps the young students to understand current issues from a global perspective such as the current war in Ukraine. The teachers really care so much about every student and teach them like they are their own children. My girls started to love learning since coming to The Spring School and it's because the content is interesting and the teachers are so engaging and skilled in their profession. They both enjoy coming to school and my older one actually enjoys doing her homework and takes it very seriously. The younger one has become more confident in math. I feel that the teachers are doing everything to help their students prepare for their next steps in high school. We appreciate all the school has done for our family!

Both my children attended The Spring School, one from 1st grade to 8th grade and the second from Pre-K to 5th grade. I cannot fully express how grateful we are to the school, the teachers and Ms. Debbie. My older child ended up in the city at a rigorous school, and The Spring School prepared him so well - especially to think outside the box and to provide the foundation to do so. My younger child also got recently accepted to a school in the city, and I am confident that he will so well-prepared as well. It was a difficult school to gain entrance to, but The Spring School truly helped him with the knowledge he gained from the passionate teachers and, most of all, the passion for learning that was fostered. My kids know more about history than any other kid we've met, and their abilities and knowledge in math, literature, grammar and science far exceed what we ever expected and hoped for.The school is like a family and was and will always be one for us. Every unique child is accepted for who she or he is, and there is no bullying. It's a kind environment where the kids LOVE to learn TOGETHER. They all help each other, and they are all friends.Mr. Marc recently organized a team to compete in an academic competition, and he was wonderful! It brought the school together, and they did so well together - rooting each other on until the end. We absolutely love the school, and we will be forever grateful.

My son has been attending The Spring School since he was four years old, it has been his second family. He is now graduating 8th grade this June and moving on to HS. As a graduation trip Ms. Debbie took them to Florence , Italy as they are studying the Renaissance this year! The advanced hands on curriculum compares to none! All of the Upper School teachers are very caring and know each of the students like their own. The one on one attention from the teachers is like no other school. We are so greatfuk to Ms. Debbie and all the teachers my

I could not recommend this school enough. I sent all three of my children here, with two just about to finish their undergraduate education. The curriculum at The Spring School is unmatched. The teachers utilize unique hands-on learning in math and science, and thoughtful critical thinking skills in history, which have allowed my children to digest, understand, and master advanced information with high accuracy and precision. I moved between towns during my children's adolescence, but in their new schools they were advancing far beyond their peers in math and English, with an additional bonus of teachers always complimenting my children's handwriting. Neither of my two older children would be able to write in cursive if they didn't attend The Spring School.Because of the different school systems my youngest was exposed to, the base was a bit lacking. However, only just after a year at The Spring School, my youngest caught up and started excelling at a level we were all so excited about. My youngest is now about to graduate from The Spring School and attend a high school starting off with all Honors classes and even start pre-calc in the spring semester. This all shows that the school's education has not faltered since my eldest attended, and I strongly believe it will remain just as strong as it always has been. This is a great school choice for kids and parents. There are so many kind families and the environment in which the students interact is one of the safest I have ever seen. I couldn't imagine putting my children elsewhere if I were to do their elementary education all over again!

I'm currently a student in this school and I would rate this 6/5 if I could. This school has practically raised me, and my teachers teach me in a fun and exciting way. There is no hostility between classmates and no bullying. Everyone in a class is kind of like a family and everyone is friends. The material that we learn is very advanced, however, the way the teachers build up to that point, and approach these concepts, allows us to comprehend what we study. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone. The Spring School is such a great school.
