As a parent I really enjoy all the activities and fun they have in this school also my child has really excelled in this school vs the one she was in prior she is in pre-k

This is the first year for my son at Sylmar Elementary. I transferred him from Sara Coughlin Elementary and I am extremely happy with the improvement he has made so far. He also loves his teacher and loves going to school.

I have my kids in this school and all the teachers are great, they've helped my kids and my self a lot. I couldn't be more thankful to almost the whole staff... The principal is the person who is very disappointing. She is very rude to everyone, it's like she has no education about basic cordiality. It's hard to attend to something as simple as the Halloween parade because she yells and mistreats everyone who she gets close to. It's embarrassing when relatives go to see my kids and they get yelled at by her, who supposed to be the principal, the example of the great school my I say my kids are in. Having to apologize on her behave is terrible. It's the reason why I don't attend meetings that I'm interested in. I just dot want to have to deal with how rude she is.

We have made many changes on student accountability this year. I am very proud of our programs that help students progress on their own time. We are focus on data and in improving student success. This is a great school to be part of.

I have been a volunteer at Slymar Elementary School. I found the principal and staff to be very warm and caring . The students were very enthusiastic learners who take great pride in their school . It is a great place to be!

I just completed a 15 week student teacher placement here (7 weeks 1st grade, 8 weeks 5th). I have observed & visited many local schools while pursuing my MA/Ed, but I have to say that Sylmar has the BEST staff, the most caring educators in LA. They warmly embraced me & supported me every step of the way. The Sylmar staff put its STUDENTS' progress FIRST; they go above & beyond the call of duty. Sylmar has a close-knit group of dedicated educators that work together to create a positive learning environment for their students. I can't recommend them enough-- they rock!

I'm a student teacher currently at Sylmar Elementary, and have been here only two weeks. Within this time frame I have encountered great teachers. Also, I have learned so much in only two weeks!! This would be a great school where you would want your children to attend. I'm so fortunate to be part of the school's team even if it is temporary but it's unfortunate that they are not hiring! However, I will take valuable information and strategies to take to my future class.

This is the first year my child is at Sylmar Elementary, coming from a private school. I was not aware how low the standards were at the private school. I am so grateful to the Sylmar Elementary staff, teachers and administration for the wonderful year my daughter has had. Thank you for all the wonderful things you do for the students.
