Olive Vista Middle School has an excellent STEAM academy. It operates like a separate school within the campus. The best students and teachers work there. With that being said, the Success Academy is where the lowest functioning students with the most academic and behavioral challenges are placed. The teachers in this academy are faced with incredible challenges and a lack of administrative support. Many of the students are functioning far below grade level with few interventions to increase their learning gap. Special education teachers have to fight with the administration to get support for the most vulnerable students. The administrative team is disorganized,ineffective and do not support their teaching staff. The staff turnover speaks to the lackluster performance of administration. As a parent, if you have another school in the community that you can attend, choose it. This school will not improve until there is a major overhaul of the staff, starting at the very top.

Most teachers are great but most students don't seem to care as a student here for all three years i hate being put with kids that expect me to do all the work so far my teachers have been very great and encouraging but the students here seem to not care and there are lots of fights.

Varios malos incidentes pero podría decir que en el pasado está escuela estuvo peor y mis otros hijos pasaron por esta escuela y tuvieron muchos malos ratos pero los tres son profesionales! Solo es apoyar a los maestros y exijir a la administración que vele y cuide y exija al Distrito escolar lo que nuestros hijos merecen! Y por último no dejar principalmente nosotros como padres o tutores de nuestros niños toda la responsabilidad a las escuelas.!

Olive Vista has so much to offer students including a choice to participate in one of three small learning communities- Humanitas Academy, Success Academy, or the STEAM Magnet.

Everything about this school is good. My daughter is very comfortable and happy here. The parent workshops have helped me have better communication with my daughter. I am very proud of my daughter and this school. Todo de esta escuela esta muy bien. Mi hija esta muy contenta y agusto aqui. Los talleres de padres me han ayudado tener mejor communicacion con mi hija. Estoy muy orgullosa de ella y de esta escuela.

My son was new to this school last year, during the last few months he was exposed to drugs and gangs. he has now since then been transferred to another school. Staff pretends to care but honestly instead of helping my son , there solution was sending hom away. My daughter also was a new student, coming in to the school she immidiatly began to have issues with students bullying her. she would call me constantly crying to send her back to her other school. Its been a nightmare sending my 8th graders here. Im transferring her today!!!!! The dean is incompetant, everytime id get a phone call it was the same thing, "this is what your son did, whats your solution?" If I had all the answers then I wouldnt be having this issue right? then to sit in his office and hear about his family and life....we are hear to discuss my son amd how to help him!!!!! if the staff were to only have more patience when it comes to the teenagers then maybe theyd be willing to work with them more. one of the worst schools ever!

I am proud to be a part of theschool community at Olive Vista. We have a teaching staff and administration that really cares about the students and their well being. We constantly strive to improve our instructional program and provide the best possible learning environment for our students. OV is a gem- a safe, and caring place for your child to prepare for high school, college and careeer.

Olive Vista is a good school. Most of the teachers there have great personalities which motivate the child to attend class everyday, not to mention they are great instructors. My old English and History teachers pushed me to strive and helped me to see my full potential. Unfortunately, I transferred to Nobel and it wasn't the same. OV helped me achieve to my full potential, and I will never forget who and where I learned it from. Now I am currently attending Kennedy High School and it's ROTC.
