Not the greatest school! They don't care about your child or make any effort to help a child in need. So dissatisfied with this school.

We are thinking of sending our daughter to Deans Mill for 1st grade, but what is up with the plywood over the windows? Is the building run down, or are they hiding something?

My daughter went to DMS and she came out of the end of 1st grade not able to read at all. I went to mtgs to advocate strongly. They would not test her for a reading disability, which later on we found to be true. They instead treated her as a throw-away. The SW worked hard, but could not gain the support of the administration to work more than 1.5 hrs per week with her. What a joke! We fought and fought for her. She left 1st gr without knowing how to spell and read simple site words. If you have a child of color and a reading or math disability, then they are overlooked at Dean's Mill. They only pay attention to and reward self starters. The first week of Kindergarten they called my child TOMBOY & TOUGHIE. She was shy and big for her age. She was frozen with fear. And to over come it she slipped into the role they carved out for her. Bad boy. They made her feel Brown = Bad. Fact is my daughter has a reading disability which I fought to overcome and they would not help me. They are completely into Reward the Self Starters, punish the rest., especially if the child is of color.
