This school is great!!! The other children in my school are awesome and friendly! The teachers are nice and awesome as well, the staff is also awesome! I was afraid of moving to a new school, But, It was a great experience! To be honest, everything is great about the school! The teachers are humorous and kind, and another great thing is that it is in a great area, you can walk to school if you like in the many houses in the area, and after school, you can go to Walmart or any of the other stores in Trinity, overall, the whole area is a great!

My 3 children are new to this school, & it has been the worst experience ever! From the morning crossing guard in the parking lot who congests the cars, to the negligent & lazy office staff, and all 3 of my children's teachers, this school is seriously lacking. The school year is over in 3 months & my 1st grader has learned nothing all year. Things being taught here in 1st grade, he learned in kindergarten at his previous school. My 4th grader was doing multiplication/division in 3rd grade at his previous school, yet this school has barely started working on it more than half-way through the year. My kindergartener is barely learning anything & is not at the level she should be this far in the year or even close to where her brother was at in kinder at their previous school. 2 out of my 3 kids NEVER get homework/computer work to complete at home, nor are there weekly reports or anything communicating to parents, so there's no follow up/reinforcement of what they're "learning" in class. This school does not seem to put education as a priority & unfortunately, it's showing in my children (this school year has been a total waste). Here's two examples of the many I've witnessed from this negligent & lazy front office staff: I was waiting at the front office to drop off goodies for my child's class & this very young (1st grade?) special needs student comes walking down the hall by himself. He stands in front of the office window & is staring at them just chat away. He must've been standing there for 3 minutes before I had to interrupt them and let them know a child was waiting for them. They asked him what he was doing there & told him he wasn't supposed to be up there, but he didn't respond (he may have been nonverbal), so they just ignored his presence & continued their conversation. Oh! Today my child forgot his lunch. I went to the school & after being buzzed in, I immediately walk to the office window & instead of greeting me or offering me assistance, the woman gets on the phone to make a call. After her call, I let her know my son forgot his lunch & she instructs me to just leave it on the table (out in the open) & someone would take it to him. I wrote a note w/ his name, grade, teacher's name & left it on his lunch pail. I have so little faith in this school that I asked my son if he got his lunch & he says they didn't bring it to him until 1:20pm. Mind you, I dropped it off 4 hours prior at 9:30am & lunch is at 12pm. This school seriously sucks!

All three of my kids have gone/go to Manlio. We have had nothing but a great experience here and we have lived in several areas around the country as well as having our children attend prestigious private schools in Hawaii and top notch public schools on the East Coast. My Children love it here and have made many friends, Also, they have been challenged through the GATE program and all of my kids have had wonderful, caring teachers who were effective with communicating with the parents as well as with our kids. The Principal, Mr Kho--is very involved and does a great job leading this school and his Team. Also, the PTA has a very active group of volunteers that are truly committed to the students. Through various enrichment programs, fairs/festivals and fundraisers. Furthermore, the school is clean, safe and newer and does a great job recognizing and encouraging good character for their students! Highly recommended!

This is my children's first year at this school. It was an adjustment. They have a few daily procedures that are very different from other schools. The school has grown on us as the school year as continued. Both of my children's teachers are good. The PTA is active.

After a rough experience with 2nd grade, I have been really impressed with 3rd grade. The teacher-parent communication is excellent and no question is too small or silly to ask. The homework club offered by my child's teacher was a perfect bridge to getting homework completed without a fuss each night. I would recommend this school to parents and offer that you get out of it what you put into it. If PTA isn't your thing then volunteer in the classroom or find some other way to help the teacher(s).

Having been at Silva for 4 years, i've found our experience to be a fantastic one! Excellent, caring and friendly teachers, who have a personal interest in my children's education. A Silva Principle, Vice Principle and staff that is not only friendly, but also devoted to all the Silva Students. As i've looked through some of the reviews, the last one dated Jan 9th, 2015 is very suspicious. As a PTA member and active parent at Silva, I feel that I should warn those who read that review not to take it to heart. The Manlio Silva PTA not only provides Silva with copious amounts of extra curricular activities. It fully supports the teachers, Principle and staff at Silva. Silva U is a program designed to provide Silva Students FREE after school extra curricular activities that cannot be provided during school hours. It's in the process of being redesigned so it can better fit the Students and Teachers needs. I wouldn't call that a failure. Silva is a great community school with so much to offer. I'd hate for one bad seed to have any influence over it's stellar reputation.

Unfortunately this school only allows positive reviews. My review before this one was deleted. So if you are in search for real answers you aren't going to find them here. Most of the PTA or Teachers post all the positive reviews. If you give a review that makes this school look bad, your post will be deleted. Sad really....

Great leadership- we wish the school systems would have a longer day- so they can take advantage of the great teachers! Overall great school.

Incredible school. Awesome Teachers and Administration. They really care about the kids here. There is Silva U which allows your child the opportunity to stay after school and learn other subjects that are not offered in school. Then they have real PE teachers...not just the regular classroom Teachers doing PE but acutal PE teachers. We have a full music program that has band and choir. The PTA is fabulous here and there are so many programs that they put on, we have the Harvest Festival, AAA awards, Walk to school day, family week, a preschool story time, honor roll breakfasts. Just an incredible school. Plus breakfast is free here to all children! And they also have an afterschool daycare program that has been set up in conjunction with the local YMCA. Could not ask for a more better school. Manlio is tops!!!

My daughter is in the 5th grade gate program and is doing great. The teacher really care about the kids. They have a great PTA. It feels like a huge family.

My child has been going to this school since kindergarten. It has been a great experience and we were truly amazed with the principal Mr. Faith. He was by far an outstanding Principal. Unfortunately, Mr. Faith no longer works there and sadly it shows. There is a great deal with lack of enthusiasm. It is unfortunate that he is gone and the greatness has left with him. SOME Teachers are caring, understanding, and love what they do. However, most Teachers well.... lets just say they need to care more and remember why they wanted to teach in the first place. Be prepared parents for your child to be judged and treated differently. As well as, not getting the proper education due to the growing number of students in the classroom. If your child is struggling in a certain area be prepared to take on teaching your child what the Teacher should be doing. I am very disappointed and concerned with the lack of enthusiasm in teaching and helping a child learn. There are more things that I could go on about but I think I painted most of the picture for you. This school year has not been the best, and Manlio Silva can do much better than this. Currently contemplating a transfer.
