From the the moment i tried to enroll my children in this school it has been a complete nightmare! They refused enrollment even after the school board said they were good to enroll! The principal laughed as the secretary belittled my family and I! The principal told me she would NOT follow my disabled sons IAP. When i tried to tell the principal that we were treated very poorly she did not care at all! I will get my kids in school and i will NOT stop until that secretary and that principal are REMOVED from that school! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience!I was also notified they got certified as a blue ribbon school because the principal bullies special needs parents until they remove their special needs children out of that school!!!!

What I have just went through do to this racist learning environment is beyond me! Just because I'm a black woman doesn't mean I can't fight for the rights of my family legally. My 5 year old was accused of drugs and he is in kindergarten. If that isn't racist I don't know what is!!! My attorney is on this matter right now.

This school is terrible. The principal sets the tone for a terrible culture of f treating kids without compassion. It’s her way or the highway and she will physically stuff your child into her box as will the teachers and special Ed teachers. The only reason people from the area rate this school so high is because they have never been out of Monroe (or Louisiana) and have never experienced a truly great school/system with stellar faculty and staff. Coming from out of state, I’m appalled at the quality of this school so many people think is “great.” Homeschool or send to private school.

SES has been such a blessing and great experience for both of my children. They attended from PreK through 5th and loved it. Most parents know each other, the teachers know you & your children, and it overall just has a very welcoming atmosphere. They prepare them well for testing and middle school.

If your child has ADHD then go to another school. No tolerance here.

I love this school! I can't imagine a better experience anywhere else.

First class establishment. Very challenging curriculum. The only thing that I would change is to decrease the class sizes, but they are busting at the seams. There is no need for a private school education if you live in this school zone.

Sterlington Elementary is an excellent school. I feel confident that when my two sons enter the building, they will be cared for superbly. I have no worries. There are quite a few private schools nearby and parents from those schools are enrolling their children at SES. They ask, "Why would I pay thousands of dollars to send my child(ren) to a private school when SES is right here and an excellent school?" SES has an abundance of parental support and that's important as well as an outstanding administration and teachers.

This school has very dedicated teachers that care about the students. They truly appreciate parent involvement and push the children to excel. There is lots of homework but it's good fundamentally for the children. I don't believe that it is excessive at all. There are many activities for the children and plenty of access to computers. The Accelerated Reader (AR) program has been very good with high standards. The school uses Edline.net to keep up with students grades and assignments. Most teachers use it well and I HIGHLY appreciate the ability to look up at a moments notice what is going on. The principal should make sure EVERY teacher updates Edline regularly. The only issue I have with the school is that the class sizes have gotten too large. One of the reasons I liked the school district to begin with my first child was the smaller class size (17-20 six years ago) but the average seems closer to 26-28. If they can find the budget to fix this, the school would be 5 star. The facility is new and very brightly colored. My children have enjoyed the color scheme. It is a great environment to learn. The Sterlington area schools are a GREAT place to have my children learn.

My Granddaughter is in the 5th grade at Sterlington Elem. She is legally living with me, and she loves Sterlington. She loves her teachers, who I have found to be very good with the kids and are very good teachers. The are very caring. I hope that Brianna will be attending Sterlington Middle School next year, and she will be able to keep her friends and her grades up. I am a single grandmother, raising Brianna myself which makes it hard for me to take off of work for all the events that are there. I wish I could do more but I have to work. The times I was able to attend I feel the teachers and principle did a fine job with the kids!

The town is not as good as they make out to be. The teacher has their favorite and the community is NOT very welcoming. Small town gossip. Education isn't their focus.. it's the school.scores that matter the most. My child has been there 6 yrs. We would not recommend coming to this school
