Charles Herbert Flowers High School has been a great experience for me, and I would highly recommend it! The teachers do an excellent job of delivering lessons, and they genuinely help students who want to learn. On top of that, they’re funny, kind, and make the classroom environment enjoyable. If you’re looking for a school where teachers care and make learning engaging, this is the place. 100% recommend!

CHFHS Community Reference Instruction (CRI) program lacks in several areas. Specifically the IEP Team. The team fails to be accountable and adhere to the Federal law (IDEA) and State/local policies regarding special education rights, processes and procedures. For example, the team has been unprepared and disorganized; as a result, multiple follow-ups meetings are needed; unfortunately, rarely are the issues resolved. The students are put a disadvantaged. I recommend that the team is receive properly training in the laws, policies, procedures and process; implement those rules/processes; most importantly, be accountable. The special education chair lacks meeting management and facilities skills. Training on facilitation and how to address/management conflict would be beneficial. Also, CHFHS does not have ADA compliant accessible bathrooms (ex. automatic doors, closely located near the classrooms). CRI Students must use the school nurse office's bathroom (which is located on the opposite side of the building.) I would not recommend this school for students who have motor skill delays/challenges. Positive comments: the therapists who provide related services such as speech and OT are knowledgeable, will trained and make every effort to align and address the student's IEP goals/objectives. The educators will training and respectful; however, they faced challenges such as adequate funding for community based field trips.

This school is very wonderful for your children to go to and prepare them for College. This school has great teachers and students and a good principal. I love all of the sports there. I’ve gone to many of there games and the students played a wonderful job. In 2 years i will be enrolling my son in this school as he is in 7th grade. My eldest son is in his senior year. I would definitely recommend this school.

2 thumbs up. It was rocky a little at the beginning of freshman year. Things changes and we can say our experience at Flowers is worth us recommending this institute, despite some of its problems. There is no school that can openly and honestly say there are no problems we just haven't heard of them yet. I believe this school has made an honest attempt to handle its issues. Keep in mind the it begins at home when it comes to respect, and integrity. If students are out of control in school the problem began before they walked in the door. Schools are dealing with a different kind of student now...times have changed! Dr. Brown, keep doing what you do!

Horrible Worse school in the USA Poor leadership, poor course work, low effectiveness, no accountability Lazy principal. Years behind mainstream think they are top notch but lazy and poorly educated teachers.

Flowers has a strong leadership within the new Principal. We have not ran into any issues so far! We are military and have lived many places and have seen many schools. The success of the school is on the parents. Your students will get out what you as a parent put in!

I love Flowers High School. I am in the 10th Grade and in the Science & Technology program. Although Flowers is a rough school, it has great programs. The science and technology program is sort of secluded form the general population of the school which is good because most of the general population is filled with ghetto and unsuccessful students. Science & tech provides its students with three tracks: biology, engineering, and computer science. I am on the biology track so it is mandatory for my to take bio/org chemistry and AP biology. It is also mandatory for all sci&tech students to take like physics, pre-calc, and engineering foundations 1 & 2. The program is VERY challenging but it is all worth it in the end. Like, our seniors have gotten into great schools like Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Dartmouth, University of Maryland: College Park, UNC at Chapell Hill, UVA, UPENN, Penn State, UPITT, UMBC, GIT, NC A&T, Hampton, Howard, Temple, and more. This is a great school as long as you stay focused. Even though our principal of 12 years is leaving, this school will stay strong and keep doing great things.

I want to keep this short, but honestly as a freshman starting in '11, I can say nothing good about this school. None of the good programs are available to 9th graders, and the children (they certainly act like children) are ghetto and totally uncontrollable. When the school first opened, everybody wanted to get in b/c it was a good school back in the day. But now it's turned to bad things happening every day. There are only a few security guards in the school, and they don't really care about out-of-place uniforms, or kids roaming around. I'm closing, but if I were a parent, I wouldn't send my kid to CHFHS unless we lived in a perfect world.

As a teacher at CHFHS, I can attest that the school is indeed overcrowded, which only further confirms the high regard by parents of our school. At Flowers, there is a culture of learning that is matched at only very few schools in the county. The teachers are dedicated, the principal is excellent and there is a plethora of after-school activities for every student interest.
