This school needs to be reassessed! My kids went here for 2 years passing with flying colors. I moved so now we are in a different district which I thank God for every day. My daughter was in the 3rd grade reading on a second grade level a beginners second grade level. You know its bad when the teacher at Salyers calls to tell you to get your child out the school. I spoke w my daughter and she said the teacher never teaches. My then second grader can help my then 3rd grader with homework once we moved schools. That itself speaks volume. Elementary is the kid’s foundation to life and this school doesnt prepare them for anything. My kids beg to go back to Salyers because in my daughters words, “i didnt do anything but be good and go to the treasure box because i was the only kid being quiet”

Very poor. Its sad that the school district doesn't do anything to improve or make it better

My child has been going to Salyers for 3 years and there are definitely some pros and cons as with any school. The no homework policy has been great for us with busy schedules, but I'm sure not everyone is happy about that. I'm not thrilled about the new GT policy, but that was a district decision. There is excellent leadership under Mrs. Grounds, and the teachers, parents, and students really respect her authority. This is a very diverse school, but what a great way to introduce your child to all types of people!

When I first read up on the school , I thought I made a great choice now I'm not to sure, I mean if they don't give homework , so I as a parent reach out to my childs teacher through email, and ask about progress, let me know what you are doing and I can print down worksheeets etc. to my surprise my daughter is failing this class , but making A&B 's in the other teacher class, I feel like it you are not gonna send home our childern grades, homework a progress report or report card is not gonna do because before it reaches failing grades we should be made aware.
