My son is about to move onto Middle school and I cannot believe how backed up he is on his education. No cursive writing, multiplication time tests in the 5th grade, no learning how to switch between classes, never has anything new to say he learned for the day. And as I talk to my sister in law about the middle school I can only say this is all the districts fault. I went to Downey unified school district and I have to say they were amazing! If we weren’t tied to schools by address then I would have sent my son to my grade school. Had I known that walnut park middle school doesn’t allow transfers i would have taken him out last year!!! This is unacceptable as a parent. School is to learn. I am not the teacher and I am not getting paid to teach, they are and yet don’t want to teach more than they have to. It’s ridiculous. This whole city is below average in all basic learning skills, which should concern all parents.

My daughter is currently enrolled in this school and I'm very disappointed in the teachers they've hired here. I've tutored/taught at a private school so I know how a classroom works. My daughter is in the 1st grade and her classwork is carelessly corrected. I correct her work myself when she gets home and there is no excuse for her teacher to leave so many grammatical errors unattended to. Given my current status I can't take her out yet but I strongly suggest you ask for the teachers credentials and be very active in your kids work. It is not hard to make sure these children benefit from the school they're attending and I sincerely feel as though these teachers have given up on their jobs. I give two stars to be fair.

My daughter has been attending since 2nd grade and has a great time. The teachers are for the most part very caring and listen to your concerns about your child. The administration and office staff are very welcoming and helpful. And the parent center can become like a second family...everyone with their own opinions but a family nontheless. Overall the school is very good.

My grandchild has attended this school since preschool and is getting ready to go to Middle school. I wish he could have attended another school this school only teaches the test. If he ever goes out side of the area he doomed.
