I've put 3 kids through Norton. My son left in 2018. Since then I've had another child. This is her first year in Kindergarten. Let's start with the fact that I couldn't fully register her online due to a student I have at South Gwinnett that won't be attending GCPS. I get to open house today and the process is a circus. I waited in line for 2 hrs just for them to make copies of my paperwork. No teacher assigned, no bus route, no NOTHING. I've been dealing with GCPS for the last 14 years and never have I ever experienced this. By the time the register lady got to me she had a full blown attitude. The last thing I need after waiting 2 hrs just for copies. I have friends that are registering Kindergarten kids and neither have gone through what I have with Norton. I hope this does not go like this the next 6 years my child is there. There should've been more support to have students registered during open house. The excitement for my daughter to meet her teacher was taking away from her. Leaving her on Monday will make it more difficult being that we didn't get to meet her teacher because of Norton's lack of organized open house process.

The only good thing I have to say about Norton is Ms.White. The front office is a MESS. The staff are rude and fail to inform parents of policies. I’ve had an issue with this school every step of the way. AWFUL

Teachers are terribly incompetent. If I had to guess, none of the faculty are capable of performing their jobs. The entire faculty in this school need to be cleared and replaced with people who can actually do their job. They fail to establish a health academic environment that encourages learning and positivity. They have a better chance hiring random people off the streets than they do keeping their mentally disadvantaged faculty.

Horrible. They have lost my child more than once and it’s horrible.

The faculty is awful and the transportation system for the kids is downright disgusting and awful. These people do not care about the safety of anyone's child.

The rigor and relevance of the assignments is astounding. Their Robotics, Math Club and Science Club are unparalleled. Kudos.

I am a proud parent and I must commend the staff and leaders of Norton. Norton is a great school that provided a solid educational foundation for my children! My statement is supported by college acceptance letters from the following schools: Wake Forest, UNC-Chapel Hill, John Hopkins, Elon College, Morehouse, Spelman, Vanderbilt, Oxford Emory, The University of Georgia, Mercer University, and Washington University in St. Louis. For confirmation of the great experience my children received at Norton, I asked my children (through social media) to find out college acceptances for their elementary peers...Duke, Northwestern, and Georgia Tech were just a few of many excellent schools, careers and military academies shared. The commonality for all of the students and families....Norton Elementary school, a great school!

I gave this school 5 stars. I believe that you get the most out of the school when you give into it. If you believe that it is just the school's responsibility to educate your child and you do not get involved you will not get the results you want. I love this school because they give a lot of opportunities for parents to get involved. They have school dances, Chick-Fil-A nights and a night when the staff works at McDonald's and parents can help with that too. They have a math, science, and a literacy night. The PTA keeps parents informed as well. They even have a parent resource center to check out material to help support your child's education for FREE at home. I also like the staff I've met. My son's fourth grade teacher is awesome and he adores her. He strives to make her happy. She believes in him. I feel my son is safe, the young lady that controls the door follows procedures even when parents are not very happy with her for asking for their ID. This is really a good school, they are not perfect but they strive to support the students and parents and that is what counts for me.

My son had a great experience at Norton. His teachers for 1st grade were excellent, and very supportive. They have enough resources to make any child succeed.

The new technology the school received this year will enhance all of the great instruction taking place at the school.

When I reflect about what makes Norton a great school, the first thing that comes to mind is the family we have here. It takes a group of people who care about each other and care about what they are trying to accomplish to be able to get the job done. That s what for the most part a family atmosphere is like. We have a group of people who are friendly and willing to help if the need arises. The teachers show respect for each other. Most everyone shows pride in being a part of Norton s family as a whole. The teachers love the students and go out of their way to be involved in the education of the children both academically and socially. Norton is a great school.

My thoughts on what makes Norton a great school is the willingness to collaborate and work together with our team members and staff---(teaching and learning, planning days, field day K-registration etc.) Everyone has different personalities and perspectives but when needed there are always people that are willing to work together and collaborate to get a task completed for the good of the Norton Elementary Community.

I have two boys that attend this school. One in Kindergarten and the other in Second. My oldest has been there since he was in Kindergarten and it has been a little bit of a roller coaster. Overall I think it's a wonderful school and I am very happy with the way that the leadership is diverse and I feel there is more diversity this year than I saw last year (as far as student body). Last year was rough for my oldest and I with his First grade teacher. She started the year very rough and changed my son's outlook on school. He became afraid to raise his hand scared that he would get the wrong answer and didn't want to speak out. I became very active and things changed. This year has been completely different. Both of my boys are very happy with their classes and teachers and my oldest is in the Cub Scouts with a lot of the other Second Graders and he's back to his normal self, having fun and learning. He's even on the Honor Roll and said that he'll work hard on staying on the Honor Roll for the rest of the year! I think the foundation is there but you have to really be involved to get what you want, and that's probably with almost any school. Hope that helps :)
