All of my kids have attended St. Anthony Catholic School. It was an outstanding foundation for them as they transitioned into local high schools. They were well prepared and have excelled academically not only in high school, but beyond through college. They have grown in their faith and know how to spread Christ's love to others. St. Anthony's has been a huge part of their development. It is a shame that some parents use this website as a way to bash the school because of issues they may have had instead of going to the teacher directly and working with them. The school is a private institution and if someone is not happy with it, there are many other choices for their child's education. I highly recommend St. Anthony Catholic School to anyone seeking a Christ-centered, high-quality academic education.

My family was involved with St. Anthony School from 2006-2012. Recently we moved out of state where my daughter now attends a fantastic public school. However, there is one component missing here that she, and all the others at St. Anthony, received in abundance: LOVE. St. Anthony School has excellent teachers and a strong principal. The entire staff is dedicated, motivated, professional, and LOVING. I am so thankful my children were able to receive in their early years the strong academic and moral foundation that St. Anthony school provides.

I am a Board member at St. Anthony School. As the school has grown from 34 students 5 years ago to 90 students today, it has evolved beautifully. We have a wonderful Board of Trustees, great families, dedicated teachers, and excellent students who genuinely care about each other. In the past couple of years we have added art, music, p.e., violin, and community service. Our older kids visit rest homes, and collect and distribute food to the needy. This spring, we are building a sports field and an edible schoolyard project in which kids will learn science, horticulture, and economics by taking products to market. Next year we will add a Spanish program. Finally, we will have an ethics class for seventh and eighth graders which will introduce students to beginning concepts of theology and philosophy and will consider the question of how a person ought to live within a moral framework. Our graduates will be well educated, but just as importantly each child's relationship with God will be nurtured. If you are looking for great academics and individual instruction by excellent teachers in a warm, caring atmosphere, this school is for you.

I have been affiliated with Saint Anthony School since they opened their doors in August of 2006. Both of my children attend St. Anthony School and they are both excelling in all areas of the curriculum. Class sizes are small, and therefore students receive a lot of individualized attention. All of the core curriculum is taught (and aligned to state standards). Students also get PE, Music and Art weekly. Older students take an ethics class, where they learn the importance of giving back to the community, they also plan fundraisers to help out organizations throughout the world! All students that attend St. Anthony School are taught the importance of good character and it shows in the way they treat one another. I am truly blessed to have my children attend such a wonderful school.

Student teacher ratio is second only to quality teachers in my mind when selecting a school. St. Anthony gets high marks from me on both. All grades are staffed by above average teachers and the kindergarten teacher is phenomenal. The facilities could use improvement but frankly that is not my biggest concern for an elementary school.

As a grandparent of two students at St. Anthony, I have been very impressed by the quality of the teachers, the curriculum, special programs and activities offered. I am amazed that my grandchildren are learning geometry concepts in first grade and basic algebra in fourth grade. As a retired engineer, with 16 years of math myself, I recognize an excellent math curriculum. The students come from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, which help them learn to better live in our community and world. Students learn from their teachers and from each other. They are given a multitude of experiences to creatively learn to express their talents and abilities, not only academically but through music, including violin lessons, art, cultural and physical activities and independent thinking. These are invaluable teachings that the faculty encourage with their students. The teachers are highly qualified, well educated and are motivated to give the students the best education possible. They would be an asset to any school. I am delighted that my grandchildren are so blessed to have the opportunity to attend St. Anthony.

If I could choose 6 stars, I would! The parents that wrote "If I could choose no stars, I would" are upset because they weren't allowed to completely take over the school as they had hoped. They mention the poor hiring decisions for faculty but they didn't mention that they were on the board, so they were involved in those decisions. They also decided to build a baseball field but after they destroyed all the trees they abandoned the project. Then they were to spearhead the annual fundraising golf tournament and dropped the ball on that one as well. Don't be fooled, I have 2 children there and one of them is a 4.0 Honor Roll student! (She takes after her mother) The Faculty is par excellent and care about each and everyone of those children. The Principal is a dedicated and devout Christian who had a dream about a Catholic School in our small town and fulfilled it. BTW-We are now PK-5th grade. Will add 6th in 2011-2012. The student-teacher ratio is excellent at this school. My son attended public school in K-2nd grade, and seemed to get overlooked because of his shyness. His individual learning needs are addressed by the teachers at St. Anthony School and he has blossomed in this warm, caring environment. The students' standardized test scores reflect the high level of achievement at this school. The students tested well above grade level.

Top quality education for the White Mountain area! I cannot express how incredible the staff and teachers are at St. Anthonys. My children have been attending the school for years now and I can truly see how they have been shaped and developed into true student leaders of our community. Take a look at the local newspaper from time to time and you will see the incredible news stories about how the students of St. Anthonys give back to the community. I choose to invest in my children's future by sending them to the best learning environment in the White Mountains.

My son has attended St. Anthony's since 2008. Classes are small (appx. 9-15 students per class) Therefore, each child receives alot of one on one interaction. The teachers are amazing, and they care about your children. You do not have to be Catholic and they have outstanding tuition support.

My son attended St. Anthony's from 1st - the first half of 4th grade. We moved out of the state and he is now in a public school. The quality of education that he received was excellent. The teachers are work very hard to bring out the best in all of the kids as well as maintain high academic standards. They are concerned with developing your child's mind, body and spirit, and my son's faith life has been greatly enhanced by the way the Catholic teachings are incorporated into every day lived experience in the classroom, on the playground and beyond. The principal and the assistant principal have provided very clear boundaries and continuity in their ability to administer and facilitate a strong, safe and encouraging environment for the students, parents and teachers. In transitioning to a public school, my son has been very well prepared in all areas of academics. I would highly recommend St. Anthony's to anyone looking for a quality education for their child.

If I could choose no stars, I would. Consider this school cautiously. They started out great but are having major administrative problems that end up affecting the students. The school has been in operation for 5 years but the past 2 years have brought poor choices in teachers. In those two years 4 teachers were either released or left. This year there are many complaints of two teachers that the principal and board are ignoring. The school board appears incapable of interviewing and choosing good teachers and their replacement considered. The students' learning is greatly impacted through the instability of the faculty and administrative staff. The absence of a cirriculum with continuity. Inadequate factilites --portable building without water or bathroom facilites. Lastly but most importantly, the children who leave this school are academically behind their public school counterparts. Arizona is already ranked 50th (worst) in the nation for public school education so if your child attends this school, he/she will receive an education below the 50th ranking.

Poor leadership, high teacher turnover. The school has an acting principal who also teaches. The real principal is offsite. Leadership does not reflect Christian values yet the school is Catholic. The teacher turnover in the past few years has been very high. However when there were bad teachers and parents complained, the teachers were retained. The familes were forced to leave the school for the sake of their children. The children were the real losers. They were treated poorly by the teacher and the leadership of the school did not protect them.
