When we first moved to Shakopee we were assigned to Sun Path Elementary and couldn't have been happier. When we moved mid-school year we actually filled out the inner district paper work to stay with the same school. My daughter is excelling and loves her school. They have also added a new kindergarten wing as well as new playground. All though I don't agree with the numbers that are posted stating that there are 776 student and they are ALL on the reduced lunch program. I know we are not as well as several other families. Maybe sometime soon the numbers will hopefully be updated.

With so many charter and private school options in the area we put a lot of thought into what would be the best option for our children. After weighing a plethora of pros and cons we decided to choose our neighborhood school (Sun Path) and we couldn't be happier with our choice! Our daughter is into her second year and continues to be excited to learn and share about the new knowledge she has gained every day. The principal and media center specialist organize school wide events that are engaging and informative. The teachers present as having a genuine interest in every student, work to challenge students based on their abilities, and maintain an open line of communication with parents. In addition, we have found many parents and families who are actively engaged in various school wide initiatives, volunteering opportunities, and activities. One final positive is that the school maintains a vibrant art, active gym, and comprehensive music curriculum that unfortunately has begun to disappear in other schools and districts.

The worst school experience EVER! My 7 year old child was so unhappy there. The curriculum is substandard. The teacher let them choose their own spelling words. Imagine a second grader still spelling beginning sight words( ex: I , am , the) The curriculum is below state standards, and so is the test results. Check them out for yourselves. Please don't bring child to that school, unless you want to be disappointed.
