I have had two kids in this school, the first has moved on to middle school and the second is now in the 4th grade. Kids are falling farther behind every year. The test scores are proof that academically this school is lacking. The principle is an absolute joke. She caters to the kids who act out, bully and cause trouble and treats the well mannered, bright, kind kids like garbage. She has also let information about other children's mental stability, home lives and family life slip to other parents. The bullying in this school is horrendous and nothing is ever done about it, besides chastising the kid getting bullied, claiming (that's not bullying). If I had another choice, I would switch my child to a different school, but because of my work schedule it isn't a possibility.

Our family just moved to this area and the school has been so helpful and supportive to our children. We love the feel of a small community school and Samish provides this!

My kids have had a great experience at this school. The parent group is amazing! I know other parents from the school have had trouble with the receptionist, but I have not personally experienced that.

From what I have heard this school is full of bullying and neither the teachers nor the principal seem to do anything about it and rather than listen to their students whom they are to look after and take care of they assume are lying or ¨spreading rumors¨

I have 3 kids that attend Samish, this is our 5th school year with the school. My kids and I enjoy the school and the events put on by the parent group. I have two very smart kids that have done great with all the teachers and one that needed extra help when she was younger. The teachers were great about getting her extra help and helping me with ideas on how to help her at home. A couple of be teachers are hard on the kids that misbehave which I think is great. My kids deserve a quiet class room to learn all that they can. Nothing is worse than negative parents with Children that don't behave complaining about a good school. If those negative people would leave we would have even smaller class sizes and the best learning environment for the kids that want to be there to learn.

Very curious to know if the main office lady is rude to every one or just me?? I contemplated all summer to switch schools but decided against it only because the convenient distance the school is from our home. My kids are respectful and amazing. They tell me every thing that goes on, especially concerning are the inappropriate conversions the kids and teachers have. I'm not sure if we were just spoiled at their old school (which we couldn't afford any more) or if this is the "norm", but it just feels almost like the staff goes out of their way to talk down to you. I love being involved but as for now it's too unaproachable yet. Thank you for reading. This is only my experience and most of my kiddos do enjoy attending Samish elementary.

My daughter went there and she was the new kid. All the kids caed her names and were terrible to her. The staff is mean to the children, and rude to the parents. My daughter got a part in a play they were doing (it shouldn't have been called a play at all) and the teacher kicked her out 3 days before the play and gave someone else the part. The same teacher called my daughter a brat because she didn't want to be a dwarf in a snow white play. She did end up being the narrator but a second grade teacher came up to my 4th grade daughter and told her she didn't do very well. I was there next to my daughter and she's lucky I didn't sock her in the nose. (My daughter did amazing by the way) For the parts the teacher based it on how you look not on how much talent you had. Many times the teacher wouldn't show up for practice. It was really one teacher that ruined two years of my daughters life. The bus drivers are terrible to the students as well. One of my daughters friends was screamed at and told to shut the f*** up. The teachers try as hard as they can but its hard for them because the school has absolutely no money. I would recommend taking the extra time to drive your kids to Mt.Vernon Elementary.

Very dedicated parent group. Great teachers & volunteers. Students are treated with kindness respect. My experiences with my children have all been good. District needs to upgrade the buildings though.

Fantastic school - and fantastic parent group! The other reviewers so obviously have not gotten involved in the school in ANY way. I would take this one over CENTRAL any day.
