Quite frankly, this place was pretty terrible. I would hope that it has gotten better in the time since I attended, but I I know it hasn't. This town is a very quaint little slice of peace between Seattle and Bellingham, but in turn it is a regressive hell for anyone hoping for acceptance. When I attended, I was bullied mercilessly for my long hair. I read a comment recently about Cis white men, and even though I was a cis white man, there was no mercy. Many of these kids are learning about about identity for the first time and parrot the unfortunate views of their overly conservative parents. In my time there, I was beaten every day and remember a day the whole class watched as two boys beat on my kidneys as the other held me down. Where was the teacher? Across the room monitoring "his computer class". I went home with bruises on both sides and the school tried desperately to deflect blame. They're motto was to put up my hands in an X and yell, "I will not fight you!" (As if that would do anything but make me more of a target). Even now, I'm forced to copy this review and post it under an alias, because I fear the repercussions of an overly conservative Sedro majority reading this. If you do not love "spirit weeks", this is not the place for you.I pray you know that what you are dealing with. The nation's school system can't handle this diverse of a community and cracks are showing.

Cascade middle school is a wonderful school in Sedro Woolley. It was newly remodeled the classes are big and the student to teacher ratios are just perfect for learning.

This school is literally so horrible if you aren’t straight, cis, white, male, or completely abled. Me, a grunge, trans, lesbian, is constantly harassed in the hallways, at lunch, and sometimes even in class. I have been spit on, yes, SPIT ON, called slurs, barked at, a couple boys even followed me to the bus while barking and yelling slurs at me. The counselors suck and have made me break down in their offices and wouldn’t let me leave. The school does NOTHING about bullying unless it’s a specific person or group of people. Most of the teachers are bad too. They constantly talk about their political beliefs even if they’re controversial. The substitutes are horrible too. I have been yelled at for not standing for the pledge COUNTLESS amounts of times, which is a choice just to remind. Bad school for your kids. It’s gotten to the point where I’m probably going to transfer.

Great school! I like it :) Most of the time it's really good, and I love spirit weeks a lot too.
