This was the first school I attended, honestly shaped who I am today. 36 years later I still look back on very good memories.

My daughter is in kindergarten this year, and we are very happy with Bailey Gatzert. Her teacher has gone above and beyond for the students in her class, where there is a wide range of strengths and needs. My daughter has been able to access the school's resources outside of her classroom that have really helped her build from where she is. I am impressed with the approach to differentiation across the school, where all students get a chance to work in small reading groups tailored to their level. The diversity of the school is amazing, and I feel fortunate to be part of a community that represents so many countries from around the world. The school also has a unique partnership with Seattle University to offer after-school enrichment as well as family engagement opportunities. We weren't sure what to expect when we started, but we have been very impressed in our first five months!

BG is a great school. My daughter is in 1st grade now. She has benefited from the caring staff and is testing very high academically. However, if you just look at the test scores for this school, you are missing the point. The school population is diverse and therefore the school staff is tasked with addressing a variety of challenges and issues in addition to focusing on academic needs/test scores. They do a great job of balancing those challenges while also providing a safe and caring environment for all students and their families!

My son attended BG for 4 years, from K-3.Our experience, at BG, was wonderful. From the welcoming office staff, to a dedicated administration, to teacher that go above and beyond for their students, to a school community that is beautifully diverse, and present, BG has that, and so much more.My son met some challenges, academically, due to his special needs. BGs SPED team, teachers and admin worked with us to overcome some challenges and gave us tools that we use, today, when have challenging moments, with reading or handwriting. I, as a parent, always felt welcomed in the school, and in the classrooms. There were many great opportunities to volunteer, which was very important to me.My son adored all of his teachers, and made lasting friendships with several of his classmates.I encourage new parents/guardians to schedule a tour. You'll be glad that you did!

From the friendly office staff, approachable and warm administrators, to the two teachers my son has had who are extremely skilled, professional and caring we are so thankful to be part of Bailey Gatzert. I have a pre-school aged child who comes in with me at pick up and drop off, and he is always warmly welcomed too! There are many wonderful adults for my son to look up to; he really cares for the PE teacher and the lunch lady too! In 1.5 years we have not had any issues, but I am confident that if something comes up we will be able to work together as a family/school team to sort it out.

Bailey Gatzert is a beautiful school in central Seattle. The staff are kind, approachable, informative and supportive to kids and families. My sons have loved every day at school. They are eager to learn, build strong friendships and have teachers that challenge them both academically and socially. The school has strong partnerships with Seattle U and other various organizations to support student learning and family engagement. Students at Gatzert are encouraged to be their best, embrace one another's differences and succeed in school.

New kindergarten mom at Bailey Gatzert. The school overall is a smoothly running operation. My child is eager to go to school every day and has connected with the other children and teachers easily. He's also benefitting from exposure to families with different cultures, languages (25), socioeconomic status, and general life experiences. It is a small, managable school with music, PE (rock climbing wall!), big playarea, a great library, an amazing computer lab, and amazing community partnerships with Seattle University.
