I am an active student I began my first course in 2021 as it was online school it was horrible and didn’t accommodate for my mental problems as I have ADD and some brain damage and currently I am doing summer school geometry which is not helpful at all the “projects” are long and tedious and generally no unit cuts to the chase and kids like me who struggle with ADD or ADHD have a hard time having to reread the walls of text and generally the teachers aren’t very reliable as sometimes it takes a while to respond might I also add but this requires you to use external and is not entirely in it’s own domain meaning it is harder for individuals to keep track of what they have to do and also there are no retakes or due-overs meaning once something is done that cannot be altered also this application can make you feel isolated as was I in my 7th grade year in 2021 I got depression and anxiety which the anxiety still stays with me generally this application is terrible for learning and is a waste if time there are better platforms to use and to all teachers and parents who are concerned for the well being of you children or students do not I repeat do not use this as it is a depressing and long and tedious platform 1/10 do not use (ps sometimes it kicks you out)

This "school" is literally the definition of a joke, I moved to a different high school (Stanton Best school)but then moved back because we got kicked out, I then have to go to a virtual academy to take this class, ok seems fair, but once I started apex, that's when things got down hill, math is basically impossible because they teach you one thing, then once you take the quiz on the same topic, said quiz gives you a whole different thing, its worded wrong, all in all its just bad, even my grandpa who is a genius at math said it's bad, but that's not what ticked me off, somehow I finished math and other classes, so I now have 2 classes right?, WRONG, somehow I now have 5 more classes one of them being math again, 106 assignments behind, AND its almost the end of the school year so I'll have to take apex again until collage, meaning all my progress was for nothing, the founders of Apex wants 30 bucks to ruin you or your child's life, I'm dropping out of school because it Apex. its a joke.

the curriculum is filled with misinformation and a weird insistence in incorporating the name of god into my u.s. government and politics class. god has nothing to do with education. they don’t actually teach anything and it’s very apparent they just expect you to cheat and therefore don’t try. which just encourages further cheating. i would only recommend this school if you’d like to cheat ur way to graduation but anyone looking for a quality education and not a time waster should seek elsewhere. only thing i shall rate high here is safety due to the fact that it’s an online school how would i even be unsafe so do not mistake this for praise. and i’m safe from harsh punishment because there are no punishments! they don’t care about the students enough to even correct misbehavior.

If you want a positive learning experience, do NOT go with Apex Learning. As a former 4.0 student, I am just now getting my high school GPA back up after this. I took French I, English 10, and Geometry. My grade was very low on the French course and Geometry course, and I had an A in English---and only because I put put priority on that class. I passed my French and Geometry only because, on the last day, I skipped lessons and guessed on quizzes and tests that I hadn't gotten to yet so they wouldn't be graded as 0%. I passed the final exams only because of basic logic and learning material from other sources in order to understand it. The only good thing is it lets you see your grade based only on quality of work. I had two As and a B in my classes for the quality of work grade, but because of falling behind (amount of homework), my actual grade suffered horribly. It wasn't for lack of effort. I spent 7-10 hours of work a day, working until evening, and I still fell behind.The videos did a very poor job in explaining concepts. In all of the courses, the lessons were jam-packed with information and didn't offer a way to retain any of it other than taking rigorous notes (which you had no time to study anyway) and straight memorizing 15 to 20+ slides of straight information. Usually I sought help from an older sibling, YouTube, or Khan Academy. The quizzes are 10 questions, so if you get even one wrong, your score is down 10%. The tests are even worse with only 5 questions. Getting a single question wrong plunges your grade. They don't let you see the correct answers for the ones you got wrong, so there's no way to learn from your mistakes. There's a ton of worksheets you have to do, but they aren't even graded, so the time and effort you spend isn't even going towards your grade. There is so much work required to get done, and because of that, it's impossible to keep up with the work. I fell 20+ assignments behind and struggled to keep it at only that. The Holidays breaks are a joke, very short and because of the amount of work, there's no actual break.I had one good teacher, and only for the first semester. The other teachers that I had did nothing to answer my questions, always pointing me back to the lesson as if I had not just read/watched through it. The live chat tutors weren't helpful---only once did they help me understand a geometry concept. I don't think they understood proofs any more than I did because I got no answer for that one.Don't do it.

I am a person who has a hard time focusing; I have a 504 plan but there are literally no accommodations for neurodivergent students. I am doing Environmental Science, and usually spend an hour on the studies, which are just absolutely convoluted with information. I never retain any of it. Most of what is on the studies isn't on the quizzes they give you. I have even gotten contradictory answers on quizzes; they tell me one thing in the study, and when i say the same answer they say I'm wrong. This program does not specify anything and expects students to remember every bit of information they have on their 20+ page studies. I spend hours every day trying to get through the different assignments and am usually not done until the evening because it is so hard for me to pay attention. Again, literally no accommodations. It's like they're trying to make the lessons as boring as possible. I have 22 days to finish a whole semester of this class, and the workload is way too much, especially for the lack of effort they put into making the lessons interesting or easy to understand. I am so happy I'm graduating soon and never have to deal with this horrible program again.

Hiya, hello, sup, etc, I am a special needs student with various IEPs/Changes to my personal curriculum which would have an effect on actual teacher provided work which I am required to have in order to pass. I am currently working on "Foundations of Math 1" which is the “simplest” class they have, and in all, sheer, most upmost honesty, it is by far the absolute WORST course I have ever taken. Ever. APEX does not provide ANY accommodations to both standard students & students with an IEP. APEX assignments are so utterly demoralizing, to the point where each time I fail a quiz or assignment with a whopping 60% because there is literally no room for error (even on the simplest assignments), I don’t even bother to tell anybody.I can't even rate APEX positively for safety because it has been capable of pushing me into a emotional breakdown time and time again because of how HORRIBLY programmed it is- It will NEVER get to the point on pages you are supposed to read before answering the quiz, on top of that, once you go into the quiz, you can’t even exit the quiz to go into the study to answer the questions as you go along at your own pace. I am going to fail both of my classes, all because I’m being forced to use this endless wormhole of distress of a site my school assigns to everyone. My work would otherwise be slightly simpler and slightly cut down on actual worthwhile assignments so I am not overwhelmed or so I can actually get the work done without feeling like a psychologically broken victim to my school districts overexpectations, but that is no longer the case, APEX opts to give me 20 pages worth of words and 10 questions in the end. There is no reason to give over 16 full paragraphs of words to a teenager who already struggles with learning and then expect them to memorize all of it for a 10 question quiz only to slap them with a 40% correct quiz without even telling you what you got correct and incorrect. It’s no wonder people cheat on APEX, because that’s the only way they can stay sane while using this atrociously made website built on total impracticality. It’s miserable, just straight up beyond unbearable. I am so incredibly amazed at how APEX manages to not only shove students of both sides to the ground with deep sadness or absolute infuriation, but also gives them a guaranteed contract to fail both school & credit recovery. This site alone is enough to make me drop-out, and I might be doing that if I’m assigned it again next year.

It made me lose courage to pass high school hopefully I could sue them I had quizzes that asked me something that I don't understand and I failed the symmer course and it was shakespeare for 9th grade English it made no sense.

I've been made to take a math course on this platform, and the least I can say is, their testing method is flawed. For the specific course I am taking, there are only five questions on each quiz, which is a small amount already, and if you don't get a full score on the quiz, your grade drops terribly. You can only afford to make so many mistakes on this platform, and for students who are being introduced to new concepts through this platform, it's not comprehensive, just convoluted. Their explanations don't answer any questions, their "real-world" examples aren't that real, not to mention the repetition of the entire course. All of the material is just a rehashing of one basic concept already explained away in the first lesson, and it doesn't help that the tests are punishing to anyone who takes them. All in all, I would NOT recommend this platform to anyone out there seeking comprehensive, understandable material that is engaging and keeps you on your toes. Any other math platform is better. I speak from experience.

It is impossible to get ahold of anyone. You can hold for 20 min then you are told you cant hold anymore. Not a place to enroll in if you have any questions or need for support.

Apex is horrible, its hard to learn anything because of how much information is shoved at you at one time and it doesn't help that everything is super boring. The study guides often don't help on tests and when you get a low grade on a summative its hard to raise your grade. This isn't helping anyone learn at all. We do the earth science course and it seriously sucks. Apex needs to be improved significantly of abolished completely.

This is the worst program I have ever done. 1 star is honestly giving this too much credit. The lessons do not teach me anything, and the grading system is massively flawed. By the time you get a few units in, your grade is basically stuck. Moving it is basically impossible unless u constantly get 100% on every possible test until the end. If you miss even one question, your grade changes by 10%. It is the most unfair rigged thing I have ever seen. I have read the study guide multiple times before, only to find out that it has nothing to do with the questions on the test. It also doesn't help that if you miss a few days, then your grade drops a lot. I know many people that are 20+ assignments behind, with no hope of finishing. Most people that I know have learned most of their math information from outside sources instead of the study guides. Last year I had Apex for Living Earth. I had to read and fully memorize on average 20 pages of lengthy information, just to do a 10 questions test. Apex also doesn't tell you exactly what to study, so you never know what exactly to memorize. 0/10

My daughter used to study at this school until she got suspended for a month because she didn't write her name on her assignment. Honestly worst school experience ever.

APEX learning is just grand. I never thought I'd see a curriculum more monotonous and soul-crushing than common core, but here we are. For an online school, APEX is the bottom of the barrel. It forces you to learn and master entire concepts in a few hours, while punishing you if you fall behind. Getting perfect grades is nearly impossible due to the strict and buggy grading system, which prioritises dumb luck over actual knowledge. If you want to be held back a grade or two, APEX is the tool for you.

Apex learning sucks. The site is designed poorly, there are multiple ways to turn in assignments and it'd be a hard time for the teachers finding how I submitted my work, I can't work at my own pace without getting asked to contact my teacher every few quizzes, all of the studies are poorly designed or look like they were stolen stock images from 2007, it logs me out for being idle for several minutes, you only get 2 tries (no exceptions), the servers are also probably from 2007 since they can't handle a few people on the site at the same time, and idek why apex is on this site since this site is named "greatschools.org"... like what great school am I looking at? Apex doesn't even deserve to be on a site called "atleastlikebarelyacceptional.org", And one more thing, DO NOT USE IT IT! DOES NOT CATER TO THE STUDENTS EMOTIONAL WELLBEING IN ANY WAY-- IT JUST IGNORES IT!

This program is absolute garbage. I haven't learned anything from this program, and after taking the tests I instantly forgot everything. Our teacher was no help when we were confused, and no one in my class enjoyed using this program. In the first semester, we had too much work, however in the second semester we didn't have enough. We literally had more days in the school year than lessons in the program. This program has a ton of questions that are incredibly poorly worded and you are heavily punished for not getting every single question correct.

Apex Learning seems to focus less on helping its students and more on punishing them for not doing well at their studies. I had previously failed some of my Algebra classes last year and had to take Apex Learning for credit, and it's only made me more confused about math. It expects the student, who most likely does not grasp basic concepts about the subject they're taking, to understand its complicated explanations of each topic. The only time I actually understood what was going on was when I asked an adult to explain it to me or looked up how to do it on YouTube. It should be noted that Apex Learning does not consider or care about the time or mental well-being of the students taking its program. It expects you to spend 2-5 hours a day on it, and it punishes you severely if you fall behind at all. Perhaps this is just me being cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if this were a feature, not a bug. The types of people who create these programs seem to have a sick disdain for children, especially for children who struggle academically. It doesn't try to slow down or lighten the load if you get overwhelmed or stressed, because Apex's goal is not to help the student learn or succeed, but to make the student feel awful about themselves. It has the same strict and uncaring nature of an school dean who gets a power trip from "disciplining" the students. It's like a bitter, passive aggressive mom or a stuck-up, angry ex-military dad telling their kid to "suck it up" whenever talk about being depressed. In the eyes of Apex Learning, the students are not kids who are just not doing well in their classes, they're lazy, entitled brats who need to get beaten down. If you want a program that cares about your child's mental wellbeing and wants to actually help them learn, then avoid Apex Learning like the plague. The only thing I can compliment it on is that the options to have the lessons read out to you are useful. This "virtual school" is an embarrassment and the people who are responsible for it should feel ashamed.
