This school has a great community atmosphere. 95% of the student population are not 7th day Adventist. The church is welcoming but doesn’t make you feel pressured to convert. I love all of the family events and the fact that parents can be as involved as they want to be. The school really promotes stress free learning and regularly gets the kids outside. The current principal who started 5 years ago is lovely and knows all of the children. My daughter started here last year and we look forward to many more years with SAS.

I am so happy that we found this school. It is exactly the community i was looking for, for my son and my family. Parents are encouraged (and expected) to be involved in classroom activities and school-wide activities.My son is valued for the individual that he is. Each teacher knows him by name. His K-1 class has a guaranteed 14:1 teacher student ratio. Because of the small class size the kids have really built a family at the school. They have a class pet (a cat!), celebrate birthday parties, go on monthly field trips (We have already gone to Mt. St. Helens, OMSI and bowling!). In the winter the kids can choose from Skiing/snow boarding on Mt. Hood or Ice Skating at Lloyd Center. In the spring they do swimming lessons at the pool!

We have 3 children who attended the school. One of them went there from 1st grade and graduated with all A's in 8th grade. Now that he's in public school he is struggling with math and other classes. The education is really no better than a public school. All of the B.S. about a superior education is laughable. Fridays are a non academic day, chapel and art. SAVE YOUR MONEY.The 6-8 teacher is also the principal.

I have two children attending SAS and find the school, staff, programs and academics to be excellent. The Christian staff cares about students and always go the extra mile. Bullying is not tolerated. Chapels, classroom worships and Bible class help students develop a personal connection with Jesus. Academics are challenging and rigorous. Students regularly use technology in the classroom. Because of the individual attention, advanced students are individually challenged, while students needing it receive extra support. I find the school a wonderful blessing and can't imagine having my children anywhere else. The music program allows my children to participate in band. My children love the winter sports program. I encourage anyone looking for excellent education for their child to look into SAS.

Very weak principal who also happens to be the 3-5 grade teacher. Too much responsibility for one person and the students are not getting the attention they need and deserve. The school board is too weak to do anything about the issue. Student enrollment will remain low until they get a new principal and a 3-5 grade teacher. The 6-8 grade teacher is AWESOME! The music program is the best part of the school. They brag about their test scores but should realize that with so few students in a school it only takes a couple students to test well to off-set the scores of the weaker students. There are students in the school who are receiving special education services. There are many other local private and charter schools as well as more than adequate public schools. Save your tuition money!
