Grandaughter is in this school and has had some trouble. The staff has been supportive of her and trying to help find solutions. Only complaint is that a meeting with staff/teachers/parents and followup should have happened much sooner than it has in order to find a solution and to stop negative behaviors from becoming ingrained.

Scandia is the kind of school where the office staff knows everyones name...even down to which activities your child is in and how they're doing. It's the kind of school where you walk in and can almost feel the buzzing of those children's minds swirling about with information and facts upon facts. Bullying is NOT tolerated there in any way, shape, or form. But the lovely part about it is that they don't simply punish the bully, but the entire staff really works hard at getting to the root causes and then moves forward from there. My eldest was struggling in school until I switched him to Scandia and he had Mr. Krentz in 6th grade. This teacher was absolutely instrumental in changing my sons entire outlook on school. Now he LOVES school (at Chisago Lakes Middle School) and is excelling in every class. Needless to say, I'm impressed with the passion and accountability that the Scandia staff has when teaching our little ones of today.

Scandia is a wonderful little school set in the heart of the quaint town where the first Swedish settlers made their home in Minnesota. My husband and I chose to open enroll our children at Scandia because of the breadth of opportunities there, the smaller size, and the "at home" feeling we had the minute we walked through the doors. We think of Scandia Elementary as a free private school because of its rich offerings: a challenging curriculum, Chinese language, band/orchestra (6th grade), a fantastic group of parents, strong leadership in our principal and teachers -- the list goes on. It was recently named an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, and it is well-deserved. We feel very fortunate to have chosen Scandia Elementary for our children; it provides a strong foundation, and I believe they leave there at the end of 6th grade feeling confident and well-prepared.

We love Scandia Elementary. The teachers, the learning environment and the community. We choose Scandia Elementary because of the small involved community. But we continue to be pleased with things like the "cluster groups" for accelerated kids, the Smartboards in every classroom, the way they work hard to create a "no bully" environment. If you are looking for an elementary school that creates a learning environment for all children, you can't beat Scandia!

As a former student and the live-in aunt of a current Scandia kindergartener, I know that Scandia Elementary is an AMAZING school. As I child, I participated in Cluster Kids, a program for advanced students, that helped me learn at my own, accelerated pace. My niece had a snow day yesterday and instead of celebrating the day off, told me "I'm said because I couldn't go to school today."
